Days Inn by Wyndham Great Lakes Naval Base

Perfect location for Navy Bootcamp Graduation. Easy access by train into Chicago.

It was supposed to have breakfast and it did not. Our sheets were wet upon check in.we did get different blankets. He offered to move us rooms, but we were a late check in and we didnt want to have to move everything again.

I HAD A TWO DAY RESEVATION ,WE LEFT AFTER THE FIRST NIGHT,THE A/C WOULD NOT WORK,AND THEY DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS PRPBLEM, THE NEXT MORNING NO HOT WATER,WE CHECKED OUT

Comfortable, roomy, close to Naval Base and restaurants and walmart.

The room seemed damp the entire time we were there. We requested a cot, which we were told they had, but everytime my daughter went to get one they just said no or come back later. There is a shower (not in a bathtub with higher sides) and no matter what we did water got all over the bathroom floor. The security lock on the door was loose and didnt not make me feel secure. We also reported that the door on the back end that required a key, didnt lock so anyone can walk in... no safe at all. The breakfast was horrible also. Like no one ever tried to care!

Do not stay there, find a better place a bit away. This is not a dense city environment, you can easily drive around do not mind to drive a few miles it is nothing there.

I liked the location. Close to the navy base. It’s an old hotel but it was clean and staff was friendly.

I requested a queen bed and they are all actually full size beds. The rooms are okay just a lot of small damages

Great stay!?

This was our first time visiting the Chicago area, and we chose to stay in North Chicago for the Naval Graduation. We’re unsure whether Days Inn by Wyndham is classified as a hotel or motel, but if it’s considered a hotel, that classification should be reconsidered. It didn’t meet the expectations set by its website. As soon as we entered the room, my wife began feeling unwell. I assumed it was from the long flight and suggested she rest. However, her condition didn’t improve the next day, and we ultimately decided to check out two days earlier than planned and book elsewhere. At checkout, we tried to explain the situation, but the front desk was busy with other guests. Not wanting to create a scene or speak negatively in front of others, we quietly left. Surprisingly, the staff didn’t ask any questions or express any concern—especially the person who originally checked us in. We’re not asking for anything in return—we understand we lost two prepaid nights. We typically stay at places like Westin, Hyatt, and Sheraton, so perhaps our expectations were too high. Still, we feel the website doesn’t accurately reflect the true condition of the property. Sadly, this is not a place we would choose to stay again.

The staff were extremely kind and friendly, super helpful too. Any help or issues they will fix it quick and easy! Would 100% come back!

This is by far the worse hotel I have stayed at! There were multiple concerns but my main concern was my safety! My hotel door would not lock when you left. Anyone could just open the door without a key and I addressed this concern within 30mins of being at the room as I opened the room without the key the 1st time. I was advised maintenance would fix it and I was ok to leave my things in the room why I grabbed good. I came back and they provided new keys but I was able to go up and just open the door again. The person on duty (I won’t name him) said I should be ok because they have cameras and I could lock the door from the inside but offered no recourse for when I left my room. I asked for another room and was advised they were booked solid. The manager did not show up until about 1pm and I had packed all my belongings and put in the rental car since we were going to the Navy graduation at 6am that morning. By the time I heard from the manager I had found another hotel as in between I called 3x and was told no manager was there and nothing they could do. I requested a refund and was not given a full refund just a partial even though I did not spend 10ths in my room. Also the shuttle service they offer is a SCAM! He dropped us off and never came back. The hotel manager Mike told me they are contracted and just let them use the hotel name on their vehicle to get on base. I had to pay an Uber to get back to my rental car. I would not recommend this place!!! And very outdated!

The property was fine, but the nearest road was often very hard to get on because of traffic, and the access road was awkward.

It seen to be a great place to stay… Very Friendly staff at front desk.
