Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/US Capitol

Wasn't happy about the overall experience. Check in with Paul was awesome super helpful. Got up to our room we didn't have a shower curtain, no luggage stand, very little water pressure, very little hot water was the worst. Then went for dinner in the restaurant had to wait a very long time, the was no cook or server... the lady that was there was very pleasant and apologetic about the wait. The dinner we recieved was NOT worth $130.... was very upset about that. Usually the Hilton hotels are over the top nice but this place needs some attention... hopefully if we stay there again things will change.

Panhandlers approached us immediately upon arriving. The rooms are a bit dated. But they were clean. No soap near bathroom sink, and I didn’t get ANY of the "extras" I had requested. The bottled water in the room are $5.00 each! Only a bad QR code for their restaurant, no usual welcome book/binder. You need your room key card to take the elevator. Ice machines are hard to find and only on floors 4 and 6. The pool and hot tub were filled with unsupervised kids, rough housing and screaming. And it closes at 8pm. For everyone. The restaurant closes at 10pm. No room service. The food was amazing, but expensive! The valet parking was expensive. The amount of tax I paid on everything at the hotel was insanely high! DC traffic is insane and we wound up taking Ubers to get around. At checkout they said we could've left our car until 3pm, but we had already requested it. The front desk staff and restaurant staff were always nice, though it seems like they could both use more help. I'm not certain I would stay here again, everything considered.

The location is more than a mile from the Capitol. I'm comfortable walking, but not everyone with business on Capitol Hill will be eater to stay here. For me, a pure value play. Bonus: good-size grocery store right next door for travelers who want to buy a few yogurts, juice bottle, and snacks. Surrounding dining options are quick service: sandwich shop, pizzeria, and a Mediterranean restaurant.

So, the first night we arrived it took forever to check in because apparantly the guy who checked in before us went to his room and found the dog of a different guest in his room?! So we had to wait like 30 mins before getting checked in. I went to the hotel with my fiancee and our 2 kids and when I booked I initally requested a conjoined room. I called the day of my arrival to confirm we had that and we did not, but the attendant switched us to a conjoined room. Fast forward, when we got to our room, the toilet in my kids room did not flush. So I called downstairs and he said he would send someone up. We waited 30 minutes and no one came so we went downstairs to see what was going on and he says maintenance is gone for the day. Then why did you just tell us you would send someone up? We waited and waited. Mind you it was 1 am. So then they switch our rooms. The rooms they switch us to are not connected...even though that was our specific request. At this point it was so late and we were so tired we just decided to stay in the new un-connected rooms. The next day, I tell the manager about all that occured around our check-in and he says all he can do is offer us $50 off valet parking. Not even fully discount it. Then, on the day it was time for us to leave the attendant checking us out says the manager never even noted this $50 discount but she decided to take my word and honor it anyway. Was not able to get a comfortable temperature in room. Had to sweat out the night. Not a pleasant experience. Reported this to front desk. Was told the manager was on an important call and would call me back. Did not happen!

PARKING IS AWFUL. HOTEL WAS A 8 OUT OF 10. I WOULD FIND A HOTEL WITH A LOT THERE WAS A FEW.

I checked into this hotel because it had a free shuttle and the place online looked spacious. This was not the case at all. Staff were not friendly in fact they were rude, serving 2 customers at a time?? The place was not great at all. After travelling long distance I was looking for comfort and relief not rude and unkind gestures.

It was a nice stay and the front desk supervisor was amazing and accommodating.

The furniture was old and outdated. Overpriced and I believe it’s a dc shelter as well

Wish they had more clarification about parking on their website. They said they had parking but we couldn’t find it so we had to pay to park on the streets every 2 hours
