Holiday Inn Express & Suites VAN HORN by IHG, an IHG Hotel

While the staff was welcoming, the room was dirty and smelled like mold or mildew and like a wet dog.

The staff and facilities were very good but the business practices of the managing hotel group was very poor. I booked a room but made a mistake on the date by one day. I added change insurance to my order just in case. I immediately cancelled the wrong date and added the new date (one day later). I was charged $400 for two rooms but it became $800 when I was not refunded for the cancelled date (which had been confirmed by email and by the hotels.com app. They are now refusing to refund my incorrectly charged date even though I had change insurance. I am still fighting with Hotels.com so be very doubtful of using this service. That is why the overall rating is a 1 star but the hotel facilities and staff wever very good.

Clean and convenient

The room smelled like the linen was left in the washer too long. Pool was out of order. Elevator was out of order.

Good staff I have a bad back and knee not having a working elevator is causing me to rethink future stays as I was told it has been inoperable for at least couple weeks. Trips up and down stairs were excruciating. Not the local staffs issue but Holiday inn shd offer compensation for not letting us know in advance so other arrangements could have been made.

Elevator out again, pool had no water, laundry want working, rooms not very clean. Very expensive! Paid 489 for two nights. Never again

Food was good. Elevator was broken. Room was clean and spacious

Other than elevator not working everything else was just fine.

We showed up and they had given our room away. And they sent us away with a good luck finding a room for the night.

The cleanliness

Very nice, comfortable, clean, great breakfast but no ice machine so that was a bummer and pool was closed

Road and semi noise from room facing I-10 so loud, unable to sleep even with air conditioner running. Even adding white noise from phone was not effective in drowning out the noise. Not beneficial when sleep needed for safe travel.
