Motel 6 Arcata, CA - Cal Poly Humboldt

Hated the check in I like people behind a counter not a screen. Very awkward and impersonal

Pleasantly surprised. Clean, fresh, new. Only one complaint- the pillows were hard and flat. Bring your own. Owner/manager very nice, building well maintained. Good 4 day visit. Would definitely recommend.

It was very easy to get to and from the freeway. Close to a selection of places to eat or get groceries. Our second story, non-smoking room, looked newly remodeled. The AC worked perfectly. Everything was clean and fresh. The beds were very comfortable and there was hot water for showers. I would happily stay there again.

Great price, clean, easy to find. Love that there was a doggy poop area but people did not clean up after their dogs. Room was clean and smelled nice.

I will not return. First off, they have a computer Kiosk with a human on screen to check you in and out. When checking in there was actually a human behind the desk but they weren't apparently there to help because they disappeared as soon as I walked in. Secondly, the office smelled like Indian food and it caused me to gag because it was so thick. Indian food is fine and all but for a nationally known respected Motel chain, even if franchised, to allow the office to smell so atrocious it has likely made people decide they should stay elsewhere is beyond my understanding. Thirdly, the Kiosk human inside apparently programmed someone elses key card to mine and I was woken up sometime between 4:00 am to 5:00 am by someone trying to enter my room and heard them say oh this is the wrong room when the door latch wouldn't allow it to fully open. I mentioned it to the Kiosk human when checking out and they said that had never happened before and they would look into it. When asked if they could tell when the key card was scanned in my door they told me they don't have that capability. Fourthly, the shower is not really comfortable at all. It is a small triangle shaped corner shower with the shower head hanging over the shower curtain on the long side and faces the actual corner so it pins you into the smallest area so it's difficult to move around. Not much care to customer service by using a Kiosk and having an attrocious smell in the office and lax room security.

It was my first experience with a check in kiosk, it was a live person on the screen which wad cool and easily navigated. Found it strange that there was a person at the front desk behind it that didnt interact with you during the process. The property was very clean, room was fresh and confortable. I use motel 6 a lot when on the road, this was a nicer one.

Overpriced, minimal amenities, wifi sketchy

It's a motel 6. Rooms are small, beds aren't super comfy, shower situation in this one was weird. Mostly I'm just avoiding this one because of the awkward experience of checking in on a zoom call with someone in another country while the person working there just stands and watches me. Totally unnecessary and weird process and feels super gross. We can't even talk to real people at a motel any more? No issue on the guy sitting on a zoom screen for his entire shift (also just terrible) but again, it's awkward as hell and completely unnecessary. Also toilet seat in room was broken but that wasn't really anyone's fault except housekeeping for not fixing it. Also also, not excited about some machine scanning my ID front and back and sending it across the Atlantic. AAVGO is the company. The beginning of the end.

Room needed a lot of repairs. For the price of the room, I expected better. However, the location was excellent as it was across a mini mall and several dining facilities.

The sheets were dirty. The toilet seat was broken and they charged me a $50 early check in fee, while they gave my mom the early check in for free.

Very nice Motel 6. Very clean, I like motel 6 because dogs stay free. The bed was super comfortable. Great stay

The only thing I didn’t like is there a check-in system, there’s no more human beings, somebody in India on a video cam taking your information. They are very quick, but still, there was no real human experience.

Well, it was nice and prepared when i arrived, but house keeping didn't clean my room the 4 days i was there 😥😥😥. I asked twice for them to do so but they didn’t, and as a result, i had to ask for necessities like towels, toilet paper among other things. I hope that they fix that so next time, i come back to a clean room while on a multiple day visit.

House keeping skipped us since friday until we ledt sunday morning. The area was not very safe too many threats and too near for my liking

Did not like checking in with a person on a screen. No one in the check in area. All handled on a screen. Not a safe feeling when no one there in person. Bathroom was 1/2 painted. Had two people beg for money in the surrounding area. The bed was nice and firm. The room was clean. I would not recommend staying at this motel.

Property was as clean as it can be . Service and customer representative were so helpful and super nice. Prices are high for a Motel because they are close to Cal poly Humboldt .

There were no staff. It was a virtual concierge that seemed very impersonal and unsafe considering the hotel. The bed was awful and the bathroom was dirty. The wrapped cups for use had crumbs on them. Lesson learned. Could have spent 5 more dollars and had the nice hotel next door that was clean and had staff and continental breakfast.

I was a bit surprise not to have a live person @ check-in.

Check in was virtual even tho there was a live person in the office. Tried calling the desk for ice with no answer.

It was ok. After all it’s a motel. Can definitely say the price is what you get. Just needed somewhere to stay the night and it fulfilled its purpose.
