Malang Railway Station

Malang railway station is more popularly known as Malang Kotabaru station. The name is given to make it different from another station, Malang Kotalama. Both of them are actually the parts of Malang city station in which Kotabaru is a newer division than Kotalama station. The station currently belongs to Operation Region VIII of Surabaya. Malang Kotabaru station was built in 1941. It is the biggest railway station in Malang and operates 12 active lines for train arrival and departure from Surabaya, Bandung, and Jakarta. Malang Kotabaru is located in Trunojoyo Street No. 10, Klojen, Kiduldalem, Malang, East Java 65111, about 300 meters ahead Malang Monument in the City Plaza.

Malang is a city in East Java Province, lies about 90 kilometers to the south of Surabaya. With 252.10 km2 in area, Malang is East Java’s second biggest city after Surabaya. It belongs to the metropolitan unit regions of Malang Raya, along with Malang regency and Batu city.

Although both Malang and Surabaya are considered as metropolitan cities, Malang offers more natural ambiance and fresher atmosphere than the East Java's capital city. Another popular epithet for Malang is Parijs van Oost-Java, or Paris of Java. The epithet is earned by the city because many people think that Malang has the same beauty as Paris.
