Cepu Train Station

Cepu Station (CU) is located in Balun, Cepu, Blora. Cepu Station is one of type C large class stations. Cepu Station is the largest station in Blora Regency where most of the train destinations are at this station. There are seven train lines at Cepu Station. Two lines are made into straight lines, namely for the direction of Semarang and Surabaya. This was created after the completion of the Wadu - Tobo double track procurement in 2014. Cepu Station is also surrounded by other stations, such as Tobo Station and Padangan Station. However, now Padangan Station is no longer active because it is too close to Cepu Station. The Dutch colonial government continued the construction of railways from the Semarang to Surabaya area after seeing the successful operation of the two railway operating areas on the Jakarta - Bogor and Semarang - Gundih - Solo - Yogyakarta routes. From there the Cepu Station was finally built. The company that was building at that time was NISM. At first, NISM did not see that the construction of Cepu Station would be profitable. However, after finding petroleum reserves, NISM finally discovered the potential benefits of oil transportation on the Cepu route to Semarang, as well as Cepu to Surabaya.

The Paused of The Construction

When it was built by the Dutch company NIS in 1897, there was a cost constraint that made the initial construction of Cepu Station use a very simple material, which is wood. This also occurs at all stations that are passed by the Gundih Station line to Surabaya Pasar Turi Station. In the end, Cepu Station was inaugurated in March 1902, followed by the Gundih line to Surabaya in February 1903.

Second Development

After being inaugurated in the first stage, Cepu Station was expanded by changing the shape of the canopy. The canopy used at that time was almost the same as the canopy model used by Lempuyangan, Bojonegoro and Pasar Turi Stations. The buildings that were still temporary in nature were also rebuilt into semi-permanent buildings. The characteristics of Cepu Station are also similar to other train stations built by the NIS company, such as Telawa, Beringin, and Tuntang Stations.
