Despite renovations underway, the property was beautiful and the staff fantastic - particular thanks to Jovenal, the tennis pro - great instruction and time on the courts - I highly recommend!

We chose to stay at an Intercontinental Hotel because I know that it is a standard good service and attention, unfortunately it was not the case in Medellin. They did not help me with the upgrade, they could only allow us 2 people when I made the reservation for 3. There was no hot water, we had to be calling everyday for it and after the housekeeping service they didnt change towels, we had to call and wait forever for them to bring new ones. Colombians are happy and attentive people, it was reslly a not pleasant stay.

A work colleague recommended the place, and I’ve listened, I should have not. On 2 out of the 5 nights I stayed, the room was serviced, but no towels provided, even after asking the front desk to make sure the room is properly serviced after the first occurrence. It’s kind of upsetting to arrive back from a 12 hours work day, and discover no towels are available. Should be an easy thing to address right? Not in this hotel. Calling the front desk - nada, no one picks up the phone. ‘Is a manager available to speak with?’ - of course not, it’s after 6pm! At the 2 times I had to come down asking for towels, I was offered with nothing but head nods. Asking the manager to call me during their work hours - nada. Asking for conditioner to be filled up in the shower - nada. Look, the front desk staff was ok, feeling puzzled and confused with what’s going on, it’s really not their fault. It’s the management that chose not to address the situation and ignore the guest complaints that earned my first, and last, stay on this hotel and the low score it just received. Now, I can imagine someone from the hotel will jump and write ‘we’re sorry… ‘ but you know what? That a day late and a dollar short, it won’t change anything; they had an opportunity to make good for my experience and they chose to ignore the guest. No mas para mi

I booked this property because of the pool and location. I booked a king suite which specified it was a room for 4 people and that an extra bed could be requested if needed. On arrival I requested the additional bed and was told that this particular room was not permitted an extra bed which meant 2 adults needed to sleep on a sofa bed that was more like a twin. Too add the sofa bed could not be considered a bed as it had a bar going across the width of it that hit right at the hip. After making the staff aware, both is was done. The solution they provided was providing two standard rooms with twin beds in each which was not acceptable. Various times I went to the front desk to address the situation where I was met with a variety of eye rolls and pleasantries. The service was very poor, room service took over an hour, the restaurant had one server that took over 20 mins to come to the table for a drink order, room service would not leave clean towels which meant I was having to call every night to get them. Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. It is evident customer service is not a priority. That being said there were some staff that were pleasant and eager to assist but that was not the overall experience. Not expected from this brand and not expected for the price paid. Will never return.
