The room was lovely staff very friendly and helpful entrance hall was stunning. Lifts were old and poorly maintained. The breakfast was terrible. I would return but I’d definitely skip the breakfast

The staff as usual were first class..no complaints,except observations as follows. 1.room 333 the carpert is in a very bad state,with oil like marks 2.the wash hand basin was cracked 3.the roll up blind in the bathroom was inoperable due to a broken cord 4.the wardrobe's door drags on the carpet. 5.the toilet does not flush completely (on the first flush)

It's a nice hotel, lovely staff, but the rooms are a bit dated and the carpet was stained in multiple areas, and there was coffee stains up the wall and the skirting was dusty as well as window cills, the bed was really comfy I slept really well, also the breakfast is so nice and the staff doing breakfast, as well as bar staff all in all it's a love hotel in a great location , just need a little revamp in rooms..

Clean hotel, very old so walls and floors are wonky and hard to open the windows but to be expected in such an old building. Bed and bathroom were spotless and the location was ideal, walking distance to all restaurants/ castle / arena so overall great value for money

staff was very helpful the room was very nice and clean the only issue we had was the walls was very thin and personal next door knocked wall even though we was talking quiet but apart from that it was a nice hotel

Always a pleasure turning up here, staff always recognise me & greet me well. one of the best nights sleep for a while, mattress was divine & didn't actually want to wake up. Bathroom & room were spacious with good WIFI for working on my Laptop. Shower was strong & perfect temperature & finally in morning had a great breakfast. Sausage, Bacon & Hashbrowns were fantastic. only small criticism is eggs at breakfast. i do like poached or light scrambled. choice could have been there but I didn't ask. overall great stay & in a brilliant position for the City centre bars, restaurant's etc.

I’m confused by the good reviews. This clearly would have been a lovely hotel in the past but appears to have no investment for decades. The room I was large but had the same musty smell that pervades the whole hotel. Old carpet, missing secondary glazing panel meaning no noise insulation from busy road and nothing like the pictures on Expedia which show fairly modern rooms, It’s in a fantastic location near the centre and deserves much better care than the current owners are giving it. Also Expedia charged for breakfast than we would have paid had we ordered at the hotel - no refund offered when we pointed this out. Breakfast was terrible and not worth the hotel’s cost let alone what we paid

The member of staff at reception was welcoming, informative, helpful and friendly. My room was first class. Clean and tidy with a television. My bed was very comfortable ensuring an excellent sleep. The bathroom was also clean and tidy. A very enjoyable stay.

We usually stay at The Angel when we’re in Cardiff. We love that it’s not a chain hotel and it has some character. We were disappointed with our room on this visit, it felt a bit claustrophobic.

Central location right opposite the castle. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Hotel is dated but we still had a good stay. Breakfast was good.

Lovely welcome from friendly and helpful staff who were also able to recommend places of interest and best parking options. Room was lovely and spacious, with nice shower gel and lovely bedtime pack which included eye creams and chamomile tea, face cream and pillow spray. Breakfast was lovely with a lot of options.

It’s a very unloved hotel, such a shame as you can see at one point it must have been lovely. Horrible dirty carpet in the room, but the bed and bathroom were clean. The sink was broken, the blind in the bathroom was broken, windows were very dirty too. However, the room was massive and we had lots of windows and a great view of the castle.

Pros: Good location It's grand staircase is quite beautiful Cons: Noise (literally by two busy roads) Very soft mattress (watch out if you have lower back issues like I do)

We stayed at the Angel Hotel for one night, and the entire experience was amazing. The room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of options available in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we had a great stay!

Great staff and very clean. A bit dated and no Aircon in our superior double room but the shower was very good. Lovely comfy bed and a great night sleep. Breakfast was fresh and hot. Not much not to like. The location is central for sports and shopping
