The hotel is well located with interestingly unique facilities, culture and history. The staffs are friendly and knowledgeable. I particularly love the morning coffee and free stand-up boards which I was able to enjoy in calm waters across the street. Will definitely stay again.

The hotel is very clean, and the staffs are very friendly and helpful. It was weird that they don't have cups in the room. When the staff asked me about my stay, I told her there were no cups in the room. She told me it is for reducing waste. The attitude is more like teaching guests to learn. I paid for a comfortable stay, not for an environmental lesson, which is really annoying. She did smile to me, which almost like she is looking down on you who do not save for the environment. !_! How should I brush teeth or drink water? This really like reducing service. They provide two 800ml mason jugs for you to get free filtered water in the lobby. It was 4 minute walk from my room. After a long day, I rather stay in my room than walking 8 minutes just for water, every time. Especially the first night, I got there already exhausted and cannot find cups anywhere. Very frustrated. I pay $200 per night. No cups in the room? No coffee maker in the room. They do provide free coffee at the lobby, but it it really weak coffee, not much taste. No safe for important stuffs, like laptops. No extra power outlets. I have to unplug the TV to charge my laptop.

Great place near the ocean. Convenient and clean. Friendly and helpful staff.

Nice spot for a night. Enjoyed the pool and paddle board. You need to carry it across the street and down to the entry area (and it may have wake so sitting or kneeling might be better than standing). This is more motel and basic accommodations, but the service is very friendly and each booking removes trash from the island and helps local organizations. Location is good especially if you have a car to explore around Hilo proper. You’re not far from the airport so you may occasionally hear planes loudly over the hotel. I only noticed 3 so they didn’t wake me up (or maybe they don’t fly often during the night).

Great desk staff who we interacted with. Very professional and personable. Only downside is how close to the airport noise of fly overs.

They’ve done a great job updating/ renovating and making this a really cool space. Some street noise and courtyard noise because of old-school Hawaiian louvered windows- but it gives it that nice, local feel. Overall great vibe and was great for our short staycation. We’ll go back.

Unprofessional stuff

Perfect location!

Receptionist lady has no business being in reception. First, she overcharged us for early check-in and changing room from second floor to first floor. We have a newborn and second floor was inconvenient. Second, she issued magnetic keycard and sent another guest to our room (room 101, May 29th 2025).

Anyways amazing! Get a massage too. I get massages weekly and he is hands down the best!!!

The 70's called and they want their hotel back. The facility was well out of date with an A/C unit incapable of doing the job. Shower head was at about chest level and there were stains and poor repairs done to ceiling and walls.

I was impressed by the remodeling done to the property from being owned by a different establishment in the past that wasnt known to be that great either. But SCP is definitely more than a step up from what it was in the past before being remodeled & rebranded. Lobby and front area looked clean, inviting, not too touristy but modern and down to earth at the same time. The room was right kn front of the koi pond and was very clean,quiet and relaxing. A good place to book if your looking for something laid back but not lacking professional hospitality uou look for in any hotel. M y only complaint is the staff. I didnt run jnto trouble with any of the staff untkl going back into my room after i had dinner out with a friend at about midnight and after 10pm the back and side entry ways are locked so the only way in is through the front lobby which is very open and lit. As I was entering with my guest,a woman behind the check in counter was someone i recognized as being an aquaintance of an old ex (yes Hilo is a small enougb town lol) but i had no odea she was employed at SCP. I wasnt worried, afraid or upset about who it was but as I walked in she glared at me and right there as she was on yhe clock, fully on a shift at the front desk at SCP, she makes a threat and calls me a degrading name while encouraging me to fight back. Althougn i somply ignored the public hostility and continued walking to my room, I was still shocked,disappointed and EMBARRASSED & that scared my frie

The quality of a 60 year old motel, which has not seen any reservation and even kept the original bedding….☹️
