Our room was really dated. Wallpaper and walls bashed and marked with what looked like mould on the ceiling. The bathroom sink and shower/bath wouldn’t drain away the water. The beds and pillows were really hard and uncomfortable. Generally just in need of an update and refresh

This is a busy family and pet friendly spa hotel. The car park can be a long walk round to reception and they don’t advertise the short cut. The hotel was clean but the outside benches and furniture was mixed. Some benches had lots of bird droppings all over them and in emptied ash trays with water tide marks. The music outside was unnecessarily loud. The food and staff hospitality was very good though! With a cleaning and repair regime for the outside, it would be 4 stars.

The hall is beautiful with nice gardens and lots of character. Unfortunately the spa was very full and therefore not enjoyable and we had a terrible nights sleep because there is zero soundproofing, we could hear everything from the room above us and any movement in the corridor. I particularly loved our characterful room and view and the surprise jetted bathtub, but even though we turned the radiators off the large pipes throughout the room were still providing too much heat so we had to leave the windows open. It is a shame as the staff were wonderful, breakfast was good with lots of choice and the building really is stunning.

Beautiful property. Pulling in the drive is stunning. The interior is well decorated. The building itself is obviously older and it shows in certain areas: the toilet was unreliable, small cracks, bit of discolouration on tiles, and the pool floor isn’t sealed well so it has bumps and bounces. The room we booked for a family was perfect. The separation wall made the room feel much bigger and the kids loved having their own space. The TV selection was very basic and the TVs themselves were very slow. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful. I did have to ask a lot of questions as some information wasn’t given initially but it wasn’t too inconvenient. The swim times for children was a bit annoying because we had to plan our day around it but I understand why they’re in place. We just would have liked a bit more freedom to choose when we wanted to go rather than set times. The bed we had wasn’t super comfortable, the mattress slanted on the edge. The pillows desperately need an update. They were very flat and offered no support. However the kids single beds were comfortable for them. The restaurant menu looked good but was expensive so we chose to eat elsewhere. Except for dessert which we did get through room service. The sticky toffee pudding was top 3 best we ever had. The grounds are vast and great for a wander. Overall, good stay. We would stay again as the experience itself outweighed any issues we had.

Great hotel with lots of activities for the kids. Gym was huge with lots of equipment and classes. We had a family suite which was huge with separate bedrooms for kids and adults. Only small let downs were the shower pressure being terrible, hotel was super hot even though it wasn’t a warm day, but the did provide us with fans. Breakfast had a great selection but gluten free options ran out quickly and weren’t replaced.

Lovely traditional hotel. Receptionist was extremely efficient and friendly. Room was as expected, clean but a little tired in places owing to the age of the building. Lovely fluffy white towels. Breakfast Was excellent with a range to suit all dietary requirements. Would I stay here again ? Yes !

Very attractive grounds and hotel facade. Internal amenities were reasonable. But restaurant was dire....both dinner and evening meal, disappointing after / before long drive. It photographed well on the website but I should have taken the time to look at the menu...clue would have been there.

based in the North for a number of weeks. Food is very good and access to the gym and facilities is always welcome. For a Hotel Gym is it was good.
