Only stayed one night but was so worth the price before going for the euro tunnel next morning. Got upgraded to a suite room with stunning views of the beach

I thought breakfast was not worth the money. I would have expected real coffee for that money. The staff were a bit vague about the choices on the menu and how it worked. The air conditioning in one of the rooms we booked was not working and the portable one was hopeless. We didn’t realise this until we went to bed. Not were we aware we could have called someone at a late hour

This is a good classic Victorian hotel. Sea view room was clean and big enough. Bed was huge ! Bathroom clean with excellent large shower. Good buffet breakfast. Staff were friendly and courteous. My only other comment is I think £300 for one night was a little expensive., which compares to a reasonable London room.

The internal decoration has been carried out with grey wallpaper, charcoal colour carpet and black or dark brown woodwork. I found it to have an overall effect of gloominess, though some people might like it. The buffet breakfast is adequate, though items run out and are not replenished towards the end of breakfast service. The location is great and there is masses of parking.

It’s a beautiful hotel and a lovely location. The staff are really lovely.

Location of hotel was perfect . Walking distance to town beach across from hotel . Local bus service available down the coast . Our room was very nice . Housekeeping , cleaned well and relished daily . All staff were polite and pleasant . Breakfast was disappointing . Not displayed well . Request for poached eggs took forever each morning and were like hard boiled eggs by the time they were received . The breakfast layout just looked a mess .

The room was clean, but the AC filter was very dirty, making the unit work very hard, but it functioned! The view was amazing, the breakfast good (but the same everyday we stayed) and the staff was very nice. It is a grand older hotel in a beautiful location with free parking. We will go back!

The hotel has been tastfully refurbished but we did not feel valued as guests. First there was the email after booking. Most hotels use this to welcome you and tell you about some of the nice things to look forward to. This hotel just used it to tell me how wrong it woul, having paid in full upfront ,there was the demand for a £50 deposit on arrival. I was told it was to cover damages and was necessary "because the hotel was independent and couldn't afford to cover the losses". How sad! Hotel, please note: Not everyone is a thief or vandal - and you know where I live anyway!! No-one checked the room at checkout yet they refunded to deposit. What's the point???

Great room, was large with comfortable bed, quiet and with lovely views. Room also had real coffee, a fridge and AC. The only disappointment that I found strange was that the hotel bar and restaurant didn’t overlook the sea. To have a hotel turn its back on its main asset (the beachside location) was annoying. Surely would benefit from turning the ballroom into a bar or restaurant!! Staff all pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was fine, good value but nothing special

Have stayed here many times and it’s always very good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Had an issue with my room this time, reported to staff who were quick to rectify. This hotel is directly opposite the beach and has plenty of parking. Great facilities, worth noting that the pool is used by public too so may be busy at times.

Staff were very welcoming and very polite. Our room was very good and very clean. Only complaint was with the air conditioning which we did not have on, but it still made a noise in the early hours which woke me up. Only other minor issue was the inability on Thursday evening to get a meal in the Martello Bar which was crowded with men attending a function.

A nice stay

The hotel is very tired, the entrance hall is very dark. The corridors were dimly lit and needing a refurbished. The restaurant has no windows. There is only one passenger lift which is the size of a phone box. There was a lack of plants or aesthetic touches to brighten the function rooms.
