I liked the hotel and the staff were lovely. The food in the restaurant was particularly good. The reason I gave a poor review rating overall was because the fire alarm went off at 12:50 am and then rang intermittently for 45 minutes because apparently the Staff could not override a fault on the control panel or something like that. I had stopped at the hotel because I was very tired after lots of travelling and needed a sleep before going onto Edinburgh so this was very disappointing as I only had a couple of hours sleep and then the alarm so annoyed and woke me up that I just decided to leave in the middle of the night because I knew I would get no more rest. I rang the next morning and was refunded some of my payment by a very nice manager. I would stay again but on this occasion the very disrupted night and lack of sleep wrecked the stay.

Outside is not much to look at but the interior is quite modern with a "boat house" feel to the restaurant. Room not the most spacious but adequate. Breakfast was excellent with wide buffet choice and good quality. Spa/ swimming pool is very good. Over priced for the level of accommodation but the Lakes location contributes to the pricing.

Disappointed with room service, new biscuits put into dirty mugs ! No new tea/coffee and bin left in front of bed. Rushed job ? However, massive plus was staff attitude in dining room, dinner and breakfast excellent.

I had the superior family room, which is fantastic. It is spacious, clean and includes a ‘living space’ with dresser, shelving, fridge, coffee facilities, table and sofa. I always feel so comfortable and at home here. Management team are friendly and always have time to say hello and make me feel welcome. Staff go out their way to make sure my stay meets my expectations, plus more. I sometimes need to stay longer than expected, and they are very accommodating to do their best to keep me in the same room, minimising any troubles to myself, even if at last minute. If it is possible, they always try their best. Even when busy. I appreciate this effort so much as it ensures my holiday is as relaxing as possible. Housekeeping are more than happy to provide whatever you may need, and offer to service the room, however, there is very little needed as the room is always equipped with plenty towels, coffee facilities etc. I am happy to maintain room myself, asking for any extras if ever required. They couldn’t be more helpful. Spa and gym are exactly whats required. Spacious, clean, towels and robes are provided. Treatments are available on request at extra cost. Definitely worth a try. Although these can be booked up pretty quickly. I’d advise booking a day in advance for treatments. I tend not to take breakfast, I don’t personally like the set up nor find it good value for money. This will depend on individual preference, ofcourse.

Hotel and room were extremely clean and tidy but unfortunately there was a terrible odour in the entrance of drains. And the corridors and our room smelt of damp/animals. Our room was very small, but good condition. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had in a long time and the restaurant and reception staff were all excellent. Overall would stay again but I thought the hotel was very expensive for what it was.

Rooms were nice and clean but we had an annoying noise coming from an air vent inside a wardrobe that drove us wild, made them aware and they attempted a bodge to cover it up but it still persisted and spoiled our sleep. The only other complaint is when we were dining a family with young children had been eating beside us and the kids had food on the floor, due to the hot weather there were a lot of flies about and they were congrigating around the food on the floor. This was like this the whole time we were dining as there table hadn't been cleaned up after they left, food was absolutely spot on but was quite off putting having that many flies about. The place overall is very nice and would stay here again just maybe next time in a different room and maybe during the winter.

The room was modern but basic. We didn’t have a blind or sheer curtain so when we had the blackout curtains open there wasn’t much privacy. The carpet was stained. The children’s bed was wobbly and the frame had sticky marks on it. The small fridge wasn’t very clean and the bath could have been cleaner. We were disappointed that there was no air on as it was very hot and for the price of the room we expected it. The staff were okay but wasn’t over friendly. If we asked a question it got answered. The breakfast was lovely and there was a great choice. Sharon was very helpful and polite. The restaurant was clean and the food was good. We had a treatment each, the staff in the spa were okay but did walk past us a lot before acknowledging us in the waiting room. The pool was nice. We did have to pay to use it even though my wife was told on an email that we didn’t. Overall parts of the hotel were really nice but we wouldn’t stay again.

I was upgraded to one if the newly refurbished suites. The room was spotlessly clean, stylish and fresh, comfortable and spacious, with nice little extra finishing. I would definitely recommend the suite (budget permitting, as the quality of the room is reflected in price) for those spending a lot of time in the room. I was mostly looking to spend my time to de stress, relax and rest. Superior rooms are also spacious and comfortable, although as far as I know, are mostly unique, i have noticed some aren’t as well equipped than others. Although, all suitable if you are going out and about more, I find they are the best value for money. The smaller rooms are lovely for a one night stay or if travelling light. I recommend making use of the spa facilities and well equipped gym. Both are clean, with all the main equipment and facilities. You can pay for treatments as extra. I have tried out a few massages, which were great for sleep and recovery from gym workouts! The staff are what makes this hotel really stand out from the rest. I cannot speak highly enough of the girls at reception, management team, and housekeeping staff. Customer service is extremely important to me, and nothing was a problem for the aforementioned staff, they made me feel comfortable, listened to and a valued returning guest. They are friendly, professional and polite. Certain staff at the pool/spa are also lovely, helpful and friendly. The bar staff were a slight let down, being fair, they were very busy.

We loved our brief stay! Perfect for a stopover on the long drive from Sussex to Scotland. Ideally situated and clean with friendly staff and great facilities. The restaurant food was excellent, too - we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. Our children loved their bunk beds in our room! Will almost certainly visit again.

Had to pay extra for using the spa facilities however we went down twice during our stay and you could have just walked straight in. Didn’t check if we had paid or not.

The hotel was beautiful, rooms lovely and clean! The swimming pool and spa facilities, steam room were very good and very relaxing! The food at the FYR restaurant on site was lovely and reasonably priced aswell. The only cons I would say is that the drinks at the bar and and the pool are very expensive, considering the amount you are spending on everything else, in my opinion they don’t need to be that expensive. Overall had a very relaxing weekend, and I would return.
