We stayed in room 228. Room itself was great but the hot water in bathroom was so hot it scalded my partners hands. A warning sticker may be a good idea to warn guests of this. We also bought two single spirits with mixer and bill came to £19.70 which is very expensive even by hotel prices.

Having stayed here before, and had a good experience, sadly this was the exact opposite! The corridor had a ruffled carpet which was clearly a trip hazard. The passageway smelled of dampness, and the room hadn’t been updated since the 1980’s. Room was dark, and also needs updating. Staff were friendly, but the service was slow. Food was good, but expensive!

What a beautiful property! It is easy to see why it is a coveted wedding venue! We spent a single evening here and absolutely loved it. The building echoes with good time vibes of years past, with character carved into every facade, and the staff were amazing. Just the right amount of poise to make it opulent, but not offensive. The entire grounds are meticulously kept, with massive mature trees, stunning flowers and local wildlife abounding. Despite being built in the late 1880’s, the rooms are very modern and clean, and with all of today’s luxuries. (Except ice- if you are a Canadian traveller, used to North America hotels that have an ice machine on every floor- you will be disappointed in the U.K. as we did not encounter a single hotel in England, Wales or Scotland that had ice readily available- however, at Norwood Hall it was available by asking at the bar or calling room service.) We loved the quiet setting away from the city, the food was amazing, the staff were professional and the hotel itself was stunning. Would definitely stay here again, or recommend it to friends!

Lovely characteristic hotel with very professional staff. A quiet get away for those needing it to relax and recoup. A bit expensive considering there was no pool, hot tub or sauna & steam facilities but the hotel it's self is absolutely beautiful.

We recently stayed at the McDonald Norwood Hotel and had a truly pleasant experience. From the moment we arrived, the lady at the front desk stood out with her warm and friendly manner. She made the check-in process smooth and welcoming, instantly making us feel comfortable after a long journey. Throughout our stay, she was more than happy to assist with anything we needed — a true asset to the hotel team. Our room was lovely, spacious, and clean, with a beautiful view of the surrounding woods. It added a peaceful touch to our stay, making it even more relaxing. Overall, the service and setting made for a wonderful visit. I would gladly return and recommend it to others looking for a quiet and friendly place to stay.

Nice hotel staff are helpful but under stress as there aren’t enough of them at meal times. Comfortable room but sadly very few electrical sockets and none anywhere near the bed so you can’t charge your phone and use it as an alarm clock. Food is ok but over priced. The room I had was in a quiet part of the hotel but confusing to get to and from reception. The bathroom lights were working which I reported but did t get fixed during my stay. There were two fire alarm evacuations in the early hours of one morning and only seven people out of the guests actually went outside. Sounds like a moan but it was ok and yes I would stay again.

Absolutely stunning hotel, brought my Canadian colleague on business and he loved the authentic Scottish heritage feel of the hotel. I also appreciated the Bible in the room, something not seen often these days

Love staying here, so peaceful and relaxing. Have stayed many times over the years. A lovely old building, no pool or spa or beauty rooms, so if that's your preference this is not the place for you. Staff are always lovely and helpful.

We liked the peaceful setting and the staff made you feel special, very attentive but not fawning over you. The hotel had an old world charm but efficiently run with modern technology. Food and service excellent.

No staff. Stressed staff. Rude £8 tray service and cold expensive but tasty supper. Breakfast diabolical . No sign of the Stornaway black pudding as per menu just a dehydrated haggis. I felt sorry for the staff apart from the rude man who snatched a pen from my hand after I pointed out that my bill was wrong. He said he’d fix it and marched off. He did not fix it. Silly me I stayed here years ago and I had a similar experience . Thought I’d try again . Doh.
