I had a very pleasant overall stay at Hôtel Saint-Sulpice. The room was spacious, the bed was large and very comfortable, and the location is excellent — right next to Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal and within a short walking distance to the metro.
The breakfast was average, but still decent. If you don’t have plans to eat, having breakfast at the hotel is perfectly fine. The breakfast staff were lovely, attentive, and provided great service. I also had a very positive experience with the hotel staff during the night shift and the following morning.they were friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
However, the only disappointing part of my stay was the check-in experience. I arrived around 6 PM after walking from the station in snow and strong winds, carrying my luggage and quite exhausted. Unfortunately, the staff member at check-in seemed unfriendly and somewhat dismissive. It felt like they were not very willing to assist, which was surprising for a hospitality setting.
I have heard that there can sometimes be issues with discrimination in Quebec, and while I can’t say for certain, the interaction did leave me feeling uncomfortable. That said, this was the only negative point in an otherwise great stay.
