Upon arrival it looks very stylish and well kept, staff are well dressed and very well spoken. We were then asked for a €150 deposit which the male staff member stuttered when asked what it was for told us it was to hold in case we called down to the bar. To learn on reviews it’s a security deposit(he could have just said that it would have been fine instead of lying). When we checked into the room we were expecting a standard room as advertised on here but to our shock it was nothing like it I’ll include photos. Paint was patchy, room was very dated, the view was terrible, trunken to hide wires were unmatched and different colours. The pillows, duvet & bed was very comfortable and staff last night even delivered up a sheet to us because our room got very warm and we needed something lighter. The bathroom was a decent size and fully tiled looked well. I received an email during my first stay to ask how things were and mentioned the above and no one got back to me then when checking out my wife was asked if there was anything they could improve on and she mentioned the above he replied with well that’s the first photo advertised on the website of the few rooms at the front the were done up but if you look through the website you see the old rooms too. This was a wedding anniversary gift to my wife and we have been to nicer 3 stars. It’s not a 4 star hotel while it has lovely garden and view from the restaurant the service was extremely slow and staff need more training

On arrival at this hotel, it looks like it's scheduled for demolition. Don't be fooled by the nice room photos here on Hotels.com or over on their official website. Only 5% of the rooms look like that - on the ground floor with windows that you can hear every car driving into the car through. Rest of the hotel is an antique and not in a good way. Every door closing or person coughing, you'll hear - no matter what room you're in. The hotel is not at all soundproofed and so noisy. We had a 2 night stay booked and went straight back to reception and explained we wouldn't be able to stay here because we would never sleep. The front desk lady said she would pass this on to their 'revenue team' on Monday (it was Saturday) so that it could be refunded. We politely handed back our room key (room unused) and left. Funnily enough, we never heard from the revenue team, and when chased by Hotels.com, the hotel said they wouldn't refund the rooms as there was nothing wrong with them. So on top of everything else - exceptionally poor service. I would invite the hotel staff to stay in their own hotel rooms. Good luck being able to even doze off (you won't stay asleep for sure!). We will continue to pursue this through Hotels.com and if need be, our card company. I am so surprised at the way they have(n't) dealt with us in a polite or courteous manner after leaving the hotel. Obviously they think ignoring a problem will make it go away. Avoid this hotel like the plague. Stay elsewhere.

A superb hotel in every respect, and even better than its 4 star rating.

Stayed for 1 night for New Year’s Eve, On arrival it was full of kids running around screaming in the bar, couldn’t have a conversation, it said online there was a library room where you could relax with a drink but that was locked. Lunch was ok very basic food, (ham and cheese bap and Pasta and jar of tomato sauce) and the staff all looked to be very young & inexperienced, didn’t have good hospitality training at all. The girl barista was extremely rude. You also couldn’t leave a credit card on your room to just add all your expenses like all normal hotels, this also caused a lot of confusion for the meal package that was booked, the lady at the front desk it seemed it was her first day on the job. There was about 4 managers walking around but it would have been better if they trained the staff. We were really banking on the woodland restaurant being as good as it said online, firstly the pictures online don’t look at all what it was, for Christmas there wasn’t even a tree, lights or a painting on the wall, cheap tables and chairs with over head bright spotlights, zero dining experience atmosphere, food was pub grub, deserts and cocktails were the saving grace, we went back to the bar for the new years celebration which was the late late on the telly and a guy playing guitar badly, rarely leave bad reviews but this is honest and how it was, serious improvements need to be made to call it a 4 star.

Breakfast was not included which I was surprised at as I had searched hotels. com looking for breakfast included. I thought the price was fair if the room had of included breakfast. Not a big deal, but a little disappointing

We had a great stay at Glenview and the surrounding Wicklow mountains areas. The hotel is easy to get to (2 minutes off the motorway), has a bunch of history, and is very well decorated with loads of amenities - a bar, a pool/gym, restaurant, walking trail, and more. Our only criticisms were that there's very little soundproofing through the rooms (people walking in the hallways, watching TV, etc. travels easily), almost no airflow so it gets stuffy unless you have a window open, and the rooms and bathrooms could use a bit of an updating as things are a bit dated or attention to detail in the refurbishment wasn't done as good as expected of a 4 star hotel. Overall, staff were very nice and we would stay here again.

The pictures on Expedia were very decieving showing pictures of freshly renovated bathroom. Our shower was clearly very old and had hair left on the wall from the previous guest. Overpriced and poorly managed. The outdoor hot tub was out of order.
