Great breakfast Buffet

Location was fantastic but room had a very complicated safe, which we could not operate, the toilet and shower were in an opaque glass unit without a lock on the door, in the room, which was not ideal. I would not agree that it was 4 star. But bed comfortable and room and hotel clean. No communal lounge so you had to sit in your room if you did not go out. Breakfast good.

The corridors were dirty, the room was loud, the breakfast was poor.

This hotel has an ideal location right in the middle of restaurants and shops. Make sure to have your taxi drop you at the right street because you have a bit of a walk if you have a lot of luggage since it's situated in a pedestrian-only area. The room was clean. The bathroom was fairly clean as well. However, the room was extremely hot even with the windows wide open. The front desk promptly sent up a fan and explained that we needed to turn off the cooling unit since the entire building was set to heat only. It helped a bit. The included breakfast was lovely and the front desk staff as well as the restaurant staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The rooms are small and dated but clean. The location is steps away from the Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, and the 300 year old restaurant Botin.

Great location but weird configuration as we needed to climb several steps to go to our room.

This is touted to be the oldest hotel in Spain. Not much of the old is left to match the title. But the updates are starting to look very old and need maintenance. Two mornings both of the coffee machines were broken and we could not have coffee with breakfast. There was an ice machine in the main lobby but the ice made evything taste terrible and was not usable. Has to buy ice from the market a couple blocks away every day. The air conditioner in our room would not work. The location was quite convenient.

Excellent customer service, friendly staff, great buffet breakfast, centrally located in Madrid, and walkable to many landmarks. Five minutes walk to the Metro Sol station.
