Our room was ok but in our daughters room the shower was cold and we couldn't get any hot water. it was reported to the reception but nothing was done. Also it was on the top floor, we will ask for a lower floor next time we go.

Breakfast was limited and of poor quality! Sink plug was permanently stuck. WiFi was terrible. Window didn't close properly. Not good when near freezing outside.

I was very surprised to be given a room in a separate out building, down a flight of steps or a long walk down the drive to get to a ramp, I am disabled and have a blue badge, the only available disabled parking bay was near the rear door of the hotel ie a long walk to the room I was given! I did ask for a room in the hotel but was told they were all taken

Room had been revamped yet lighting in room lacked a lamp on the table/desk and mattress on bed was very poor quality

Lovely old hotel with all the mod cons. Very comfortable rooms, easy parking and located close to West Horsley Place which we were touring the next day.

The service was shocking; I had to wait 8 minutes for a table. Then the waitress started by saying We are busy, you will have to wait for your drinks. This is not what I expected, then to top it off, I had to wait nearly 45 minutes for a bowl of porridge.

Uncomfortable bed, solid pillow, door rattling constantly, no plug in sink, amenities (e.g. fridge) removed with unsightly blanking plates, very dated

The hotel is in lovely grounds with easy access from the car park to reception. It is undergoing refurbishment and I think that will make it a very good hotel overall. The walk in shower was fitted to make it accessible, but the grouting is due for renewal. The lighting could be better in the room, plus a magnifying mirror would also be beneficial in the bathroom. It was quiet and the bed comfortable . I would recommend it for a short stay.

We were lucky to have one of the refurbished rooms which was so lovely. Everything was clean, tidy and beautifully presented. The bathroom had both a bath and a shower and was quite spacious.We had some bar food and a drink which was nice and the gent behind the bar was very friendly and chatty. This is a very old building which I think adds to its charm. It is going through a renovation to put new life into an old building. The only improvement I think would be to the breakfast service. The staff were great and the food was lovely (and a great variety too) but the lids that you have to take off to access the food was troublesome and frustrating. If you were staying on your own you would struggle as there is nowhere to put the lid down to then use the utensil to pick up the breakfast item whilst holding your plate. It would be advantageous to have a hinged serving plate. The serving area seemed way too small for the restaurant area and covers. all in all it was a lovely stay and I would return.

We had a very comfortable stay , the rooms are decorated to a high standard and the bathroom is incredibly clean. We are dinner in the restaurant , the food was of a good quality and value for money. Breakfast was ok.

Caring staff

Food options were ok but no steak which was a shame. It was the first night for a new waitress, my girlfriend and I found the little bold man who was front of house quite patronising and loud in front on guests. Completely uncalled for and unprofessional

Property probably about 1910 to 1920. Very good condition. Looks and feels well maintained. Staff excellent. Very friendly. Food very good although Chicken Parmesan at dinner far too big a portion. Loved our stay. We will go back. John and Felicity Allen. We loved the hotel
