The room was inconvenient. It felt like there was space left over after construction so a room was added but it wasn't well thought out. Example. Only one bedside table and the other side of the bed was so close to the wall that it left very little room. Breakfast was available for a cost, while at another hotel that family stayed in at a lower cost and a more convenient room setup included breakfast. Need less to stay that should we travel to Kingston again we will not book the Strata Hotel.

Good place to stay in Kingston

The only good things I can say is the bed was comfortable and the room had been refurbished. On checkin, staff didn’t let us know we could park around back, our keycard didn’t work on 2nd day to get into building from garage and had to walk around. Desk staff said we would have to wait until he checked the people waiting in (around 8) instead of asking them if they minded if he redid our keys. After waiting for awhile, I asked them. My wife checked out - she wasn’t asked if she wanted a copy of the receipt. I slipped twice in the tub when having a shower - nothing on the bottom for no skid. They advertise a bar or lounge. We thought we would enjoy a drink after about 6 hours on the road - not open.

Great hotel! It was modern, spotless, bright. Our room was in fantastic condition. So very clean and perfectly maintained. The beds were exceptionally comfy! The hotel is easily accessible at just a short jaunt off the main highway. And it is about a 3 minute drive/ 8 minute walk to the main area of town by the waterfront. Everything you could need is within walking distance. And there's plenty of parking. We are world travellers. We've stayed in all manner of hotels, motels and resorts, from ultra-modern chic to dirt floor with tin roof. While The Strata may not be the Shangrila, it is as nice as any Marriott, Hyatt or Delta class hotel we've experienced. And at less than half the price. Our son has moved to Kingston for school. We'll be visiting often, and we're delighted to have found our go to hotel!
