We had a wonderful stay at Carberry Tower. Staff were polite and friendly. The room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was served 10/10. Staff were also available to reserve taxis for us which was helpful.

Amazing property full of lovely period character. Lots of different public rooms to enjoy. Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bedrooms. Approx 20 minute drive from tram park and ride. Lovely hotel and conveniently located.

Honestly for the money it’s worth staying.

Very comfortable stay and good breakfast. Only marred by being woken by the bin men at 6am and the staff arriving and having a very loud conversation for almost 30 minutes near the bedroom window at 6.45am. The room would benefit from a deep clean but it was good that it was a generous size.

First overnight stay at Carberry. We were kindly upgraded to a suite which was most impressive. Dinner in the Bistro was lovely. We asked for breaded fish rather than done in batter. No problem & it was extremely tasty. Relaxed atmosphere , friendly staff. A hidden gem.

Fabulous estate! Rooms are so beautiful and tastefully decorated. Grounds are gorgeous and you could spend a week here just enjoying the beautiful grounds and restful place to relax.

Hotel was warm and welcoming. Any issues were quickly resolved by the staff. Thank you in particular to Lynn and Joe who were very friendly and offered us guidance on the best places to visit

Just a great and relaxing experience. Looks of places to relax and read peacefully. Good food and ambience everywhere. The only thing that I didn’t like was the green LED on the exit light above my door was bright and disturbed my rest as i like a dark room to sleep in.. when everything else is so good, something like this tends to stand out unfortunately.

Wonderful historic old building with modern amenities. The grounds were stunning! Restaurant served delicious local food and breakfast was a Scottish buffet. Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely stay, beautiful hotel and excellent service from all staff! Lacked a lit mirror dressing area which in a room with only small velux windows made it quite difficult to get ready for our event. No vanity counter in the bathroom either so again difficult to actually get ready. (Rm 314)

Historic property sympathetically restored

Excellent service , food excellent. The Bowes lyon suite was great to stay in. The Exec rooms are a standard room so we upgraded to the suite, great choice. Would definately stay here again, building full of history

friendly staff food was great

This review is based on two recent stays at this hotel in November and December 2024. Both trips were similar with following good and bad points: Good: staff are excellent, friendly and keen to help. The grounds and building are spectacular, especially when decorated for Christmas. Bad: the restaurant food is very average, bordering on bad (depending on what you have). I ordered the beef cheeks for one meal, which was as tough as leather. Another meal i had the burger, which was like a lump of rubber. On the plus side, the breakfast is much better - maybe a different cook? On the whole, I would stay at this hotel again, but would avoid eating at the restaurant.

All of the staff were helpful and polite and the facilities were great, the mansion is a beautiful place to stay

A really special place to stay

We visited Edinburgh for the first time. Came across this place during our research and booked without hesitation, as it was truly so historical. We didn’t mind it was 20-25’ cab drive from the city center and it was worth it. Dating back to 1480, it is still in such a good shape. This is literally the oldest place we’ve ever slept in. Room was comfortable and the common rooms of this place are amazing, including the room with the classic piano. We felt like we were transported back to the 15th century, but with comfort;) Breakfast was pretty good and the staff is very kind! Highly recommend for a unique experience!
