I will not be staying at checkers again. As you know weather in uk in quite hot at present so loss of power to all plugs was very bad. Room was on second floor so very hot. With no fans had to open window. But then traffic noise as on main road very bad.

We had a lovely stay at Cheques Hotel. Good location several pubs, restraints and shops all within walking distance. Breakfast was good. The room was warm but we did have a fan in the room . Parking was free . would recommend this hotel

Old world Charm minutes walk from the town centre.Great breakfast. Menu in the resteraunt a bit limited but quality very good.

A quirky but clean and comfortable hotel. Ideal for what we needed. Ample parking. Bathroom was a little tatty and tired though. But beds were comfortable and clean

3rd time I have stayed at the Chequers.. I always enjoy the stay, the hotel has good parking, easy access to Newbury for eating out.. Nice breakfast and helpful staff!!. Thank you 😊

Good solo one night stay - staff helpful and room clean and spacious, No complaints whatsoever.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Chequers. The hotel is clean, well kept and convenient for all local amenities. The staff were very professional and polite and happy to help at every turn. Highlight for me, apart from the location, was the plentiful parking available and the breakfast was delightful and incredibly good value for money. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and highly recommended.

All good - parking onsite very useful, room clean and tidy. Breakfast was fine. Good meal in bar. Only negative was that there was no real ale.

We stayed for 1 night as a family of 4 as we were going to the races. Great location and the family room was perfect Great size with a singular bed in its own room. After reading the reviews we were a bit horrified but no need at all. The beds were really comfortable with lovely fresh clean bedding and towels. Toiletries provided, tea and coffee making supplies with biscuits too. Overall a great stay. We would stay again. Thank you.

Really loud room overlooking the road and so from 0500 the noise was immense with only single panel windows. Terrible nights sleep

Fair amount ot parking spaces but if you are going to Newmarket Racing then i would get there early, we arrived at around 12pm and managed to grab the last empty parking space thankfully. Staff were lovely, allowed us early check in and were very helpful with Taxis and restaurant recommendations (we ate in Burkha round the corner and the food was beautiful! I had one of the Executive rooms which was nice and spacious. Will definitely stay again next time i go to the races.

Room clean but could do a touch of fresh paint in places staff great. Bar and eating area's very clean and well decorated, Great location very reasonable price will definitely use again. Very good outside area

First off the staff were lovely and so helpful. The hotel itself could do with more attention to detail - we got a free room upgrade but only because the toilet seat came off in our hands first use. Second room was very spacious but there wete issues - its an old building so we were expecting uneven floors - leaking showers not so much, flickering lights when first switched on. A lot of the communal areas really needed some TLC - its location to Newbury is very good - we were using the hotel as a base for visiting Highclere and enjoyed wandering round Newbury highstreet.

I’ve stayed here before and the rooms have always been okay but this time my room was poor. The curtains were hanging off the hooks, there were cob webs in the corners and a whole in the wall. The room felt really musty and claustrophobic. I was going to ask if I could swap rooms but I didn’t have time before I had to leave for the evening. It felt like the room hadn’t been used for a while. I booked a cheap room so I didn’t have to get a cab home by myself late at night however the rooms location and it’s condition didn’t feel very safe. Breakfast was nice but staff could have been more welcoming.
