Spectacular hotel. Very very clean and calm. The surrounding areas are breath taking and the locals very friendly. The breakfast is very good and lots of choice and abundance. If what you want is relaxation, good food and nature, Pousada Valença has you covered!

Pousada Valenca is an amazing place with outstanding views. The hotel is first class. I upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was worth it.

The location, inside the walled fortress was fabulous. The view of the Minho River and Tui, Spain were wonderful. Huge common areas with lots of seating. Nice, sizeable rooms. Good dining options outside the walls for options other than traditional Portuguese. Very nice breakfast and coffee options. Easy 20 minute walk to Tui, Spain - a very nice town.

Beautiful view from property but difficult access due to tour groups wandering across narrow access roads.

Amazing place. Inside an old fortress city, right in the northern border with Spain! Amazing views. Really nice staff.

I stayed at both the Pousada in Valença and the Parador in Tui—the Pousada wins hands-down, simply because of the view. Even if your room doesn’t have a view, the dining room does. I met a couple who were staying in Tui but crossed the river for dinner at the Pousada in Valença—and were very glad they had done so.

As I mentioned the views were absolutely stunning! The old fortress also gives a superb addition to the overall interest. With Spain nearby is also an excellent point to add value to the Pousada which keeps a character supported by the surroundings. The commercial factor inside the fortress also gives a parameter of kind of an historic market placed in place and time.

Couldn't have been happier with this accommodation. What we liked: the friendly staff at reception who welcomed us with a glass of chilled lemonade on a scorching hot day, the tasteful modern décor and comfortable sofas and chairs in the common areas, the spectacular views of the Minho River and Spain across the way, the elegant dining room with views on 3 sides, exceptional dinners and generous breakfast buffet, our well-appointed room with a most comfortable bed for sleeping. When we brought a problem with the a/c to staff's attention one morning, it was immediately addressed and was working when we returned later from touring.

Very kind indeed that we can have an early breakfast at 7:30am (should start at 8am).

Beautiful rooms with view to die for. Excellent location. The whole midevil town is so beautiful. The wall and cannons are still there. Cobbled streets and such a bargain for towels.

This is a small and beautiful hotel, in a most romantic small town. Best view, great atmosphere, we had the best time staying there.

Once you have located the entrance to the fortress and negotiated the circular internal route to the hotel you are rewarded with a small but fabulous hotel with views from your room way beyond your wildest expectations. We only stayed two nights but are already planning a further visit to Northern Portugal later this year and this hotel will definitely be on our list and we will stay at least three nights this time. The only slight criticism was that our room was 101 and only very limited late afternoon sun was available on the balcony.
