Very nice hotel in a convenient location and beautiful settings.

Very pleasant stay staff very helpful

Restaurant was a bit of a let down. One of our party was ceoliac . When reviewing the menu on line there were plenty of gluten free options. When we arrived at the restaurant there was less option has they had changed there menu with out updating it on line. Also staff were unable to advise us on gluten free due to new policies and regulations. Our gluten free member ended up having 3 starters which is all she could work out that was definitely gluten free but not has a choice but for the need to eat. Yet next morning when having breakfast the staff were willing to advise what g/f was available and willing to do g/f toast. Our gluten free member declined breakfast both morning despite having paid for it has she had lost confidence in the kitchen.

Excellent room, nice area and staff were really helpful too. Only issue is the parking that there isn’t much parking if it is busy.

Good stay overall

The hotel is set in a lovely location and the main building is full of character. The bar area is a little small and getting served can take a while. Whilst the staff were very friendly and helpful, they seemed to be under a lot of pressure and not very well organised. The food was excellent but again the time it took was quite long in some cases. The tables could do with being numbered and the staff given a plan of the layout. The rooms were a little small and the lack of air conditioning made the rooms very hot and sticky. That said they were very well presented and clean. There was tea and coffee available but I think bottles of water would have been nice with a fridge to keep it cool especially when the weather is exceptionally hot. We had breakfast in the main dining room which was very well done and the range of food available was excellent. All in all this is worth considering as a good place to stay, with only small things letting it down which is a shame as it is a nice quiet place to stay.

The main building and gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Unfortunately our room was on the small side. The safe was broken and our window was difficult to open. A member of staff kindly came to our room to help us. The window had stuck and it needed a forceful shove to open. Also while we were there we had a problem with the water pressure in our bathroom which we were told that was due to a problem with the hotel pump failing after an electricity cut. The bar is on the pricey side. The breakfast is very good.

I really love the customer service and the environment Really had a good time, excellent food

The rooms are not in the main building, they are what I can only describe as motel type rooms in a couple of blocks. We had a 1st floor room the window only opened an inch and there was no A/C, didn't get a lot of sleep at the weather therefore the room was baking hot. Lovely grounds to walk round and the breakfast was good in a really nice setting.

The main building is beautiful and grade one listed. The gardens were lovely and there was a great sense of history inside and out of the building. We sat out on the terrace with a drink and enjoyed the sunshine. Rather large queues at the bar. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately, the pool and the lift down to it showed signs of needing some TLC. We didn't have a TV remote, and when we tried to phone, we couldn't get through to the reception, as it was constantly engaged in the evening, so we did without. We found the food in the restaurant to be very expensive and rather disappointing. Two of the starters were inedible. They also ran out of wine glasses!

Room was extremely clean and tidy. Having a fan available in very warm weather was a bonus. Breakfast was better than on previous visits with some nice touches.

Lovely grounds and dining area. Corridors in our accommodation block were somewhat shabby and in need of updating. Paint was peeling on the bathroom door. Double bed was standard rather than king. Room amenities were fine, suited our needs. Breakfast was more than adequate although there was a delay in replacing some hot food. Very convenient location.

Amazing place very very helpful and super friendly staff

Clean room although quite small, swimming pool was out of use whilst we were there. Ate in the restaurant in the evening meal was very good.

It was a very mixed stay, although overall it was positive. The first room we were given was very dirty. The walls in particular were yellow and marked, including hand prints on the walls and mould on the curtains (pictured attached). The room was very hot and the window didn't open - no air conditioning either. It was quite small and cramped. Premier inn would have been a lot better. Having raised concerns to the receptionist we were given a much cleaner room. The swimming pool and spa were very clean, the gym is good with good equipment. The breakfast was absolutely brilliant and well priced. Some staff were wonderful. Others were not so. We had a drink with our friends in the bar on our first night staying there and the service received was awful. I asked first for a decaf tea and was told no by the person serving me, but the two behind her said we can do that. I then asked for 2 glasses for a bottle of wine I had purchased earlier from them - I was again told no from my server, but then others said yes if I didn't mind red wine glasses (I didn't mind). I then asked for 2 Pepsis - 2 were put on the bill but I was only given 1. When I asked for my second Pepsi the server poured it and added another to the bill, to which I had to correct her. The second Pepsi she poured was in a smaller glass but charged the same amount. I asked for a tray to carry everything, when I got to my table I realised there was so milk for the tea and the mug was dirty. Very unpleasant.

Good stay for the second time. lovely room and impressive fan due to the warmth of the evening. lady on reception very helpful as we arrived late from an event we went to. would look to visit again

Everything you need in a family room. We found this very comfortable size wise but very warm. There is a fan supplied but it is quite warm.

Room was clean , staff very welcoming and pool and spa were spot on , didn’t have breakfast or use the bar , great hotel
