Couldn’t get the room thermostat to adjust but not a big deal. A beautiful hotel in a stunning location with an incredible view. We will be back.

Lovely property in Matera, conveniently located. We had a large clean family room. We booked the spa and had the whole place to ourselves.

Very average property but centrally located for the historic city centre. Most off-putting was the very unfriendly reception staff (bordering on rude). Clean and spacious room but didn’t really get the cave dwelling feeling.

Fantastic hotel, we felt it was definitely one of the better hotels in terms of location, fabulous room and breakfast. Highly recommended.

Beautiful room with a wonderful view from the patio. Delicious breakfast. Great spa services at the amazing Thermae!

Convenient location

Incredible and beautiful caves restored and renovated into an amazing and unique accomodation experience. Unfortunately, the man at the front desk was so unpleasant and cranky it marred the overall experience. He treated us so unkindly - he was abrupt and unhelpful. The room was beautiful, the pools in the caves were a wonderful experience and the breakfast was nice as were the wait staff. Note that it is a difficult walk from the station/ bus stop with heavy suitcases you must carry up and down many stairs.

The hotel itself is really lovely, room was excellent with a great view. However, check in was awful, with only the absolute basics communicated (room number and breakfast time). No information provided around the spa, location, recommendations etc. Also, it gets an instant 2 star deduction for advertising the spa heavily but charging €25 per person - this should be free to hotel guests. It was also noisy, with next door (I think perhaps the hotel making a new room as it was in between our annex and the hotel itself) starting drilling/cutting at 7am.

We absolutely loved our stay, it couldn’t have been better! The location is fantastic, and staying right in the heart of the historic center made everything even more special. The hotel is wonderful, full of charm and comfort. Truly an unforgettable experience!

The hotel is beautiful. If you have car you can be pick up at Durazno parking facility (surcharge)

The cave atmosphere was as advertised. The only issue was the air conditioning could not be use because of city regulations.

Beautiful hotel unfortunately our room was quite noisy. There was building work above the room until about 8 pm and in the morning because our room was underneath the road we could hear suitcases being pulled and cars from 5:45 am. We were in room two suggest you avoid that room. We did however enjoy our stay buffet breakfast in the morning was great large of selection food We paid extra for the thermal rooms and the underground cave swimming pool which was fabulous. Highly recommend the experience. It cost €25 each for 90 minutes. Hotel is in a great location right inside Sissi the old city. Highly recommend going into Matera 😀 a fantastic experience and would recommend staying overnight and not just going for the day

High quality modern lodging in old setting.Great bed,even better breakfast. Additional info about access to the location would help. I recommend taking a taxi if arriving without a car. Highly recommended.

Great location and cave room was brilliant

Great hotel.

Fantastic location in the middle of the Sassi!! Cannot beat the views from the various suites! Taxis are also able to drive right up to the hotel, which made for a very convenient pick up and drop off. And the breakfast! WOW! One of the best we have had in Europe in terms the wide variety of local selection and service. The room was quite large and cozy for a cave. It was a little damp/stuffy, plus the floor had small ants all over the place, but can't really complain about that given you are staying in a cave. As this is also a spa, I was expecting a little better amenities in terms of body wash, hair wash, etc. They do provide slippers though which was amazing on the stone floors. We only stayed one night, so did not get a chance to check out the spa but would have loved to. Would highly recommend staying here!

We absolutely loved our cave room (15) it was beautiful & made our stay celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday very special. We also had a wonderful time at the termae & enjoyed our couples massage. We will definitely be recommending it. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Very picturesque, but living in caves has its' downsides.
