A lovely hotel in an idyllic spot - our room was a deluxe and looked over the little harbour, spectacular to see the tide coming in and out all day (and night of course!). Food was fine - breakfasts especially good - and we tried the Cornish wines which were just OK. If in doubt stick with the french for the moment, but they're improving all the time. We had a lovely weekend away, the only stress being the trip to and from the mainroads - you don't want to meet anyone coming the other way!

This was the culmination of a self-promise made 11 years ago. Then, we had afternoon tea on the patio, but can’t remember how we discovered Portloe. We said we should stay here if we ever visit Cornwall again. Fast forward to now; an unexpected opportunity to re-visit Cornwall. And it came to pass. Our stay did not disappoint- the quirky corridors to our room, the spectacular views from the windows, the bright and airy restaurant and the opportunity (again) to observe a lone fisherman working on his boat, all day, on the slipway. And, for all you “new” visitors to remote locations in Cornwall, the roads get narrower the closer you get to your destination. Choose your car size wisely, for the times you meet another car head on!

Very nice stay! Beautiful location! Beach cottage was amazing, breakfast service was very good. Some minor issues with dinner service but all resolved very quickly by the staff and we had an excellent meal there. Overall would highly recommend!

Overall really loved the Hotel. Lovely view from our room over the bay. The staff were really lovely and helpful. One problem we did have was the menu shown on the website has obviously not been brought up to date. Before visiting we had chosen what we wanted from the online menu (which also stated a 10% surcharge) only to find a completely different menu on arrival with a 12.5 % surcharge. Having arrived after a long journey I ended up having a bowl of soup! This may be useful for future visitors as nowhere else to eat locally. The breakfast, however, was perfect.

Quiet and idyllic place to stay -

We had a wonderful stay at the Lugger. My Dad is terminally ill and frail. He spent many summers as a boy in Portloe and one of his final wishes was to return for a holiday. Four of us from 3 generations went to stay. From the moment i spoke to the team there about the booking to the moment we left they couldn’t have been more accommodating or understanding. Every member of staff went the extra mile to help him. It was a fantastic weekend to relax and enjoy the hotel and the area with several great meals, good wine and fantastic breakfasts. It all made my dad so happy and created great memories for us all. I highly recommend and just want to say thank you.

Everything was amazing, the staff were engaging, friendly and attentive, the room was warm and very well decorated, the food was delicious and beautifully presented and the location was breathtaking.

A really fantastic position, The Lugger is a great hotel, with super rooms and friendly staff. Only downside WIFI not good and menu and wine list, somewhat uninspiring. But still very much worth a visit!
