Flagged as a 5* hotel, but more like a 3* as no comparison with Eastbournes other 5* the Grand. An Impressive building on the seafront, and ok but some irritating things such as a 1900's lift! with concertina double doors that were very heavy to open/close. Fortunately the staff were alert to it and frequently helped out. Its Quaint but soon became annoying. Our partial seaview balcony room was big but bland, with few power sockets and a wall bar as a wardrobe. The kettle was immediately under the TV and so when in use, the steam went all over the TV, we avoided subsequently for the serious safety issue it presents. The balcony was very narrow 1mx2m and limited by large access step. Both of us tried the £20 breakfast once and thought it expensive and poor quality, so we breakfasted out for the rest of our stay. Its very well positioned so lots of eating places nearby, plus the Pier, Bandstand and promonade walk. Free welcome wine on the first night, but not a great quality for a "5*" hotel. Altogether a good but frustrating place to stay.

Fabulous location, clean room and lovely staff. Decor in the room was a bit tired, but it's hard to maintain a property of this age, I guess. Lift was a great feature, too.

Nice hotel and lovely staff. We had a nice big room with a partial view of the sea which was nice. Loved the old style 120 year old lift and the character and mellowness of the hotel. Reception were lovely and helpful especially the young boy and blonde girl. Our biggest disappointment was Eastbourne itself, having never been before I thought there would be more going on along the front but it is dead. It's a pity because the promenade in front of the hotels is really nice.

A comfortable hotel well situated on the Grand Parade seafront close to the pier and the town centre. Very stylish building in very good condition with character and style. All staff were very professional and helpful with a good knowledge of the local area.

I was given the incorrect key to my room on the 4th floor I rang reception from my phone for them to let me in the room whilst they sorted the correct key, after over an hour or waiting for them to bring me a room key I went to ask reception to be told were sorting it, not really very good customer service. I eventually got a room key over 2 hours later. To top it a huge cobweb on the ceiling and no mirror in the bedroom only mirror available was in the bathroom which is no where near a plug socket for using with a hairdryer etc. After me mentioning at reception on check out i got a ridiculous answer of the room is probably too small for a mirror....

I’m sorry to say this was a bitter disappointment. Please don’t be mislead by the 5 star grading. This is just about a 3 star at best. The executive room mattress must be over 20 years old the way it’s it’s dipped and given way. Had to sleep in the middle and woke up with a terrible back. Food was really terribly basic. Staff are lovely and couldn’t fault their friendliness which was the one benefit.

Room looking our to sea beautiful. Only complaint was that it was lovely to be offered a free glass of wine but no alternative offered for those of us who do not drink. Well done apart from that.

Mostly clean, but areas of dirt on the bedroom floor and bathroom seemed a bit aged. Room also got really warm, heating was on the whole time. Restaurant was closed, so reception advised I order takeout instead maybe suggesting some nice nearby restaurants… It was okay, but wouldn’t say again.

We had A fantastic stay at the Chatsworth hotel a lovely seaside hotel full of character, a huge room with a comfortable bed and sea view and the staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful for us and our four legged friend. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, We hope to return again soon.
