This is a truly beautiful historic building right beside the Cathedral. The architecture is just exquisite and the restoration process must be an ongoing task. It feels a privilege to stay here. Our only reservation and which is why I deducted a star is that the furnishing is very typical of a Parador and our beds felt quite damp when we went to bed. Breakfast is good but incredibly busy so you need to book your slot

As someone who has travelled extensively and stayed in countless hotels around the world, I can honestly say this was not only one of the finest hotels I’ve experienced, but one of the very best Paradors in Spain. The combination of exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, outstanding cuisine, and genuine hospitality made for an unforgettable stay. Every detail reflected the unique charm and heritage that make the Parador experience so special. I would return without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable stay in Spain.

It is incredible in the second quarter of the 21st Century that the Parador was without internet service for more than 24 hours. It precluded basic, necessary communications (e.g., airline and other transportation arrangements) and prejudiced the rest of my entire trip. Apparently, internet service for the paradores is centralized in Madrid, rather than from a local hub: a recipe for trouble for the entire network of the hotels. Caveat emptor. Get it together Ministerio de Turismo!

Absolutely fantastic!!! We really enjoyed our stay. I did the tasting menu in the abbey dining room. Delicious! Our room had a balcony. What a view! Four cloisters walks. The grounds were beautiful.

The place itself is beautiful. You feel as if you were staying in a museum. The pictures, the furniture,etc. the gardens are lovely.

First, the hotel location could not be more convenient to the Cathedral. That was awesome. The hotel was very special and very nice. The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel if you stay in Santiago de Compostela .

When are arrived at the door the doormen opened the door. They carried our cases. The reception staff were very helpful. The room was really nice and traditional just as expected and spotless. We went to the bar after being in the city and had cocktails. The best cocktails we’d had. Everything was perfect and we will come back next year.

This is an amazing historic property. The location is unbeatable, just besides the Cathedral. The refurbished rooms (not sure if all are) are wonderful and ample and the patios are just oasis of peace with awe inspiring views. Be sure to stay here and spend some time T the property. Excellent breakfast with mix of buffet and à la carte items. Only problem was the air conditioning that did not work well, in a hot summer. Water pressure was excellent, not a given in an historic building. Staff was excellent, we absolutely recommend this Parador, not only a stay but a truly remarkable experience.

Imagine staying in a 5-star hotel that was originally a medieval hospital- soaring gothic arches around 4 delightful courtyard gardens, amazing food and service, outstanding buffet breakfast

Breakfast v busy and therefore not very enjoyable. Dining room for evening was beautiful atmosphere but food was not great. Bar area was very good.

At the end of your Camino journey, you want to splurge and book this hotel. Not only are the grounds beautiful and the location beside the Cathedral ideal, but luxuriating in a bath and having coffee and tea amenities in the room glorious after the long walk. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. Highly recommend!
