Great location for our family to play and enjoy the beach and pools at the end of our Costa Rican vacation. Very family friendly and plenty to do on the property and lots of options for local and travel excursions.

From a design standpoint the property has a great layout, nice pools nearby bar. The buffet was great some pushy people that acted like it was their last supper. They had evening entertainment not just Michael Jackson if you ever stayed at a resort in D.R. you know what I'm talking about. Dancing and music with some Costa Rican flare Diamante reserve nearby which was nice to visit. The staff was helpful. Not so great our elevator broke down only one working which would get packed. Often times I walked up to the 3rd floor. The beds lacked cushion, and I woke up with an sore back. The bathroom faucet used to be silver now its worn out in between silver and yellow. Our toilet had a foul odor I suspect they may use well water. My A/C only had one speed high and off and if you open the patio door and don't lock it closed the A/C auto turns off. During my checkout I had to walk down with my suitcase and carryon and the front desk told my I had to bring my used pool towels or pay a penalty. Why not just have the maid account for it totally unnecessary. It's a hotel with a lot of potential but if you're going to charge a premium price you should reinvest in the resort and don't inconvenience the guests.

The Riu Guanacaste All-Inclusive Resort provides excellent service, clean and spacious rooms, and a beautiful setting. Our room in the quiet new building was ideal for relaxation, though the long walk to the beach and bars might not suit those with mobility challenges. The mini-fridge was restocked every two days, and we had no issues using the in room safe. Meals were fresh and flavorful, even at the buffets, and the drinks were great. The pools were warm, like bath water, and the ocean offered warm swimming conditions with occasional large waves. A major highlight was the wildlife—howler monkeys were abundant in the trees, and gentle capuchins even took fruit from our hands. Excursions required travel, with most over an hour away. However, the Diamonte Eco Adventure Park was just 10 minutes by bus, and the water taxi to Playa de Coco offered a unique experience, despite the challenge of docking boats amid waves and riptides. The Monkey Bar, a 10-minute walk along the beach, was a must-see with plentiful and friendly monkeys, though better trail signage would be helpful. Entertainment catered to children, making it great for families but less so for adults seeking variety. The resort is somewhat isolated, and the air conditioning didn’t meet North American standards, so bringing a fan is recommended. Overall, Riu Guanacaste is a fantastic choice for families, couples, or adventurers seeking relaxation and memorable wildlife experiences.

Great food, great service. Rooms were nice but the step in bathtub needs to go. Drinks were somewhat watered down. Air conditioning worked great.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Not a 5 star resort. dinning very limited. No reservations policy, had to make a 1 hour line to have one decent meal- the rest of the time I had to eat a the same buffet. Which at least was good but it’s the same food customer service IS HORRIBLE. employees are not attentive at all. WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN.

Nightly entertainment was great! Food and service were below average. Food very repetitive. Lunch buffet is honestly terrible. Staff overworked and impersonal. Daytime entertainment was lackadaisical and beach is uninspired. Elevators are permanently broken. Toilet always smelled. We had to close the door consistently and air out the room everyday to get rid of smell. Beds were rocks. My shoulders are still in pain. Very disappointed in this resort. Won't be back.

The amenities at the property was one the highlights of the visit. It is an all-inclusive resort with plenty of dining options. One of the biggest pools I have seen, There is also a water park for kids to enjoy.

We like to go to bed early but we’re unable to sleep until music ended at 11:00pm. Would have preferred a room not facing courtyard if you have them. Otherwise liked the resort.

March 15, 2025 Riu Management: I’m writing to address our recent vacation stay at the Riu Guanacaste of which we choose to return to since our first trip approximately ten years ago since we loved it so much and had such a pleasant time. Unfortunately, this time around we were note so happy and very upset with our return. Housekeeping treated us putting it blunting awful. We had to ask everyday for our room to be cleaned upon coming back from the pool at the end of a day. We thought ok one day, but it became each day. Then when one day they did do it, they put the wet bath mat back instead of a clean dry one. When the young pool staff came around asking for input to guest and we gave our input on the housekeeping we found it to get worst as the week went on. One day we came back on the green clean up card was off and the red do not disturb was put on, the neighboring guest said she saw housekeeping do that. We noticed our patio door was unlocked and I know I always checked that this was locked before we left all the time because I did not like being on ground level. Front desk managers were not very nice nor helpful either. We were not very pleased at all with their responses telling us staff if they see a door open, safe open or patio door open they will not clean. To us, this was clearly a self-set up to not have to clean at this point as the neighboring guest clearly so this done and told us so. Later to find in speaking with other guest, same issues were happe
