A lovely hotel in the center of Montelimar with beautiful rooms, very comfortable beds, and a wonderful staff. The breakfast was superb. One of the best hotels in which we've ever stayed.

This was our second stay here. Very nicely renovated old building. Spacious parking, friendly staff. Room was very nice, good walk in shower. Breakfast was good, although there are other options close by. Overall, good value, pleasant stay.

Beautiful historic hotel. The breakfast is well worth the 10€. The hotel is back from the road making it quiet and lovely. (Except when the neighbors are loud.). All in all a really nice stay.

Great location, really nice bedroom and bathroom. My only minor complaint is that they need to upgrade their towels!

We were delighted with our stay at Le Sphinx. The hotel was lovely, quaint, set back from the street, quiet. The furnishings were perfect for the setting. We had a room with a balcony and it was inviting. There were numerous restaurants adjacent to the hotel, and a park across the street. We would stay here again in an instant and we wished we had had a reason to book for longer this time.

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. It is in the midst of activity, but secluded from all the hub bub, since it is set back on a private drive. Our room was spacious with a private balcony, perfect for breakfast. It also has a walk-in shower, unlike so many other hotels. The reception staff was friendly and accommodating, and parking is included, a necessity in an area where parking is at a premium.

The hotel is well situated on the Allées Provençales, and opposite the public park, with the train station a short walk away. There is a good variety of restaurants nearby, and the shopping area of Montelimar is very close. Parking is available, but needs to be booked. The hotel staff will ask what time you are leaving in the morning, as cars are often double parked to make full use of the available space. The entrance to the hotel (which is set back in a courtyard) is between a fountain and the Brasserie du Rallye on a quiet dual carriageway, and you have to drive over the pavement, so take care for pedestrians. The hotel is very quiet (note that the hotel is closed at midnight, so make sure that you are not arriving very late), and you can be sure of a good nights sleep. The bed was very comfortable, and the standard of cleanliness was high throughout the hotel. There was a shower over the bath, and a separate toilet in the en-suite. WiFi was reliable and fast enough for my needs. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke a good level of English. They also were very patient when I was practising my French! I cannot comment on the breakfast, as we did not eat at the hotel. There is plenty of choice a very short walk away! Le Sphinx was a great base for exploring the local area, and if I came back to Montelimar, I would stay here again.

The hotel was like a breath of fresh air form the past, the type of place I used to stay in before being put up in business hotels which are fine but have (largely) no soul. It is in the centre of town with parking through an archway into a secure courtyard. Our room was big and clean, overlooking the courtyard on the second floor up an amazing marble/stone staircase. The breakfast was typically French continental style with fresh baguettes and croissants along with cold cuts, cheese and fruit. When we were there both days there was a fire blazing in the dining room which was a great feature. The room prices were reasonable and the location couldn't be beaten, especialy with a very good bresserie next door (Rallye). I would definitely look to stay there again should the occassiion arise and recommend the hotel whole heartedly.

A total Gem! Tucked away from the busy boulevard, this hotel had a nice charm and character. The hotel was very clean and the rooms a very nice size. Less than a minute walk to shops and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was simple, but very good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The Sphinx is a lovely family run hotel tucked away in a quiet courtyard just off the main street. There is no evening restaurant at the hotel but within very easy walking distance are a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars. The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable and stylishly decorated. Reception was friendly and efficient. The only slight complaint would be that the shower towels were quite worn and small. We would definitely use this hotel again as a one night stopover.

This hotel is in a 17th century mansion! Right in downtown Montelimar (you walk out the courtyard, and there are restaurants and shops just steps away!) We stayed in the "family room" (two queen-sized beds) with our two young children. It was an absolutely gigantic room, with a gorgeous marble fireplace, beautiful moldings and paintings and wood floors. The bathroom was huge, with two sinks, a bidet, a separate toilet room, a walk-in shower AND a bathtub. The only (very minor) downside is there is no elevator, but you walk up such a charming marble staircase that it's difficult to feel it's a problem. It was clean, comfortable and altogether pleasing. An incredible value for the money. The man at reception spoke English, and was most helpful. I highly recommend this hotel!
