We stayed here one night on our way back from Bergen to Oslo. It is a big sprawling (in a nice way) hotel! Comforting, traditional ski lodge style feel but the room was modern and spacious with a balcony for me, my wife and 15yr old son. The bathroom was very snug though, but clean. There is a good sports bar on site. Burgers were nice. Bar games too. The pool, sauna and outdoor hot tub were v good. The only downside is it faces the main railway station and there were a few late night freight trains running through. The breakfast buffet was v good though with great choice. Overall, I’d stay again but maybe ask for a room not at the front.

The bathroom in my room had a terrible smell of sewerage. Hotel generally pretty tired. Otherwise ok as a stop off.

Very unique and intriguing building but obviously old so not everything worked well. Rooms are quite hot and no fans are available. Knob for starting shower fell off making it difficult to turn on the shower.

Lovely hotel. Really enjoyed it. Super swimming and leisure facilities.

The bed and bathroom were not clean.

Room has seen its better days — most important it is lack of amenities especially electrical outlets. But the breakfast was so nice and high quality food

If you are looking for the past century charm, this is the place. An old, but so elegant hotel. One feels as if one is on a movie set, just waiting for Bogart and Bergman to show up.

Negatives - Not enough sockets in the room - only one. Cold “hot” breakfast items. Inside jacuzzi should be warmer. Overall tired. Positives - hot tub outside lovely. Quirky decor. Comfortable. Staff friendly.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Dr Holmes Hotel. This is an older hotel with interesting styles of decor. There are also many historic paintings and artifacts. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Our dinner was excellent and we would certainly return.

Refurbished restaurant and lounge area. Can’t beat the location 50m from train station and 50m for ski school and slopes . Very quiet resort . Hotel restaurant very limited menu .

unique and beautiful historic property. our room also had a separated twin bed area that would have been great for third traveller if we had had one on this trip. in our case, we just enjoyed the extra space. highly recommend!!

Property is nice, but very dated - it seems there is a long storied history here, but it felt like nothing has been changed in decades. Room was ok, but was extremely hot - two small windows overlooking interior roof, so no breeze whatsoever. Room was also located close to the restaurant, as there was a strong fish smell the entire night that lingered into the morning.

Large, sprawling, quirky hotel. Lots of interesting old photos, decor items throughout the many common areas - fun to explore. Small but adequate room, comfortable beds, everything we needed. Quiet at this time of year, but still plenty of guests. Really enjoyed the stay.

Nice hot tub and pool, great breakfast, but shower could be better. Excellent breakfast !

A one night stay, arriving after 7pm but the hotel has an old world charm (the hotel layout, the decor in the rooms, bar and sitting room).
