Bar closed for refurbishment. Stair spindles missing, replaced with plywood. Windows cracked.

An "odd" but enjoyable stay. The reception was not manned but a sign gave a phone number to call and a member of staff quickly arrived. The bar and other areas of the hotel are closed off , hence me saying odd. The bedrooms are spacious, clean, look relatively new and comfortable. Breakfast was great, very well presented, tasty and a good size. If you can get over the "odd" nature then this is a good place to stay and very reasonable.

No hot water. Hole in the bathroom wall. Limescale covered taps. Banister overlooking three storey drop broken and patched with plywood. Curtain fell off the rail. Felt fenerally quite unclean. Bar area was a building site. Can't complain too much for the price paid, but still was not good enough. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Just needs some investment.

The room had a broken window th radiator wasnt put on properly the lock on the door was bent , didnt see any staff the whole time ,we was there,no where to put tge shower gel in the shower ,

The hotel room was recently refurbished and clean, staff very friendly. However I think I was in the only refurbished room with active work taking place into the evening. I am sure the property will be lovely when completed ready for the summer tourists but I only managed to stay one of my two nights.

Initially checked into a used room and then asked to come down for breakfast at 8AM and no one was actually there until 8.30AM.After waiting for 30 mins for breakfast I had to leave as the microwave was constantly in use which made me worry I was going to be served food that was not fresh.Personally I got the value of what I paid for but it is not a well run place to be honest.

Room smelt of damp , bathroom taps loose , needs a good clean I know it was a cheap room but could have been clean , bed was comfortable though

This was my second stay at this hotel which is ok for a night but only if you don't hold high expectations. On arrival and checking in I had to ask for a towel as none had been left in my room, which I would expect to be standard. The bed was comfy. The worst thing I experienced was that on arriving back late at the hotel the whole place through the stairwell and up to the top floor stank of weed

The Hotel was very nice and the breakfast was excellent. There was only one problem was there was no lift and as my mum is 97 next month and claiming the stairs to our room was difficult. Everything else was great and staff were very helpful and friendly.

I book a wrong date and I Ask to get a change the date and they told me they can't I was so disappointed and I could not make it for that day for that day e up

The room was in a pub. I've stayed in plenty of pubs but I would not have chosen a pub for this trip.

I was put on the top floor which has a step set of strairs that is difficult to climb. I was told that my room would be serviced on the second day but it wasn't. On my last evening there I asked if they still did breakfast and was told yes. I came down the next morning and everything was locked up with no sign of a member of staff. What was the point in saying yes when the answer was no? I have stayed there before, but this year was the worst.

The hotel is very weary. Photos graphs of the property are misleading. Staff very poor. My room was not ready when I arrived @ 21.00 despite having sent 2 messages and one phone call to advise of my eta. Apart from its proximity to the railway station I cannot find anything to recommend this establishment.

It was terrible, the bed sheets were stained ,the main shower head was faulty, there was no hot water in the sink, i had to boil a kettle so i could have a shave, the window frame rattled all night, they had music blasting out til 01.30 on Saturday, there was shouting and screaming and fighting about 01.00,,I reported it to them on the 27th May they replied to. me saying i should report it to you to get a full refund

We booked a twin room at a cost of £63. We were given room 16 which was on the top floor. So why have I rated the stay at terrible. There is no reception. There is a phone number on the door which we tried to call and it never connected. You have to go into the pub which is next to the “reception” to check in. This not mentioned anywhere on the site There is NO parking. You can pay to park in the council car park or risk leaving your vehicle down a side road around the back of the hotel. The side road backs onto houses and is more of a dirt track than a road. My stay was on a Friday night. The pub had a disco which went onto way past 11pm. You then had the customers leaving and the inevitable fighting outside for another 30 minutes There was no plug in the bath. The bath panel was damaged as where the boards inside the shower cubicle and the rest of the bath The pop up plug in the sink did not work and the hot tap moved around when turned on. The mastic area behind the sink was very discoloured. During the night the sink made very loud “gurgling” noises. We got back to the hotel at 10 pm only to then realise that there were no towels! We tried to contact the number that was on the door where the reception once was, but again could not get through There are electrical extension cables plugged in to the TV and kettle. Neither showed any signs of being PAT tested. There were two bicycles chained to the bottom of the stairs. Good luck getting out in the event of a fire
