Overall ok, but it's an old building and they should invest in renovating windows (too much noise coming in) and they should have bigger black outs blinds. Mattress was sagging but unfortunately this is fairly common these days.

We booked and paid for a superior room with a balcony we checked the photos on the booking site and the pokey room we were given was nothing like room we got, we asked the girl on the desk and she lied to us not happy. Staff in the bar were not welcoming and a manager spoke down to a waiter in front of customers not very professional. I have sent an email to the hotel and have not received a reply, I feel like it’s we have your money so bad luck Would not stay there again

Thought it was strange to pre-pay for everything including meals. And we opted not to prepay for a taxi to the ferry - but they booked one as a cash fare. It was was late, and they actually had to call and we missed the ferry.

Nice accommodation if you need a place to stay the night before your cruise leaving from Dover. Right on the beach with a view to the white cliffs. Excellent breakfast buffet and nice bar on site.

Paid for sea view upgrade and was simply not worth it. Room was small and old little wooden window that barely opened to a sea view no balcony. I expected more than I would from like a premier inn but didn’t receive it which was a shame as I book it as a celebration. Room was also right outside lift so little privacy. Renovations being done which I understand but couldn’t even get a caffeinated coffee from the on site bar/restaurant. We were not advised about parking correctly so ended up paying full price ourselves (this was not clear on anything and infact seemed to be different depending on when you booked) the couple next to us had free parking which obviously was a slight kick in the teeth! I was hoping this would be a special treat and it was nothing more than basic unfortunately.

Our room was a beautiful suite with a great view of the bay. The bathroom was beautifully updated BUT…. there was not water to put in that gorgeous tub. I must say a bus’s load of people came in about 6;30 so that was the problem. Dinner service was a little slow and the rib eye was not a good cut of meat and I ordered rare and got well done. They needed more help to serve all the people. They were working on the kitchen update so I guess that was a problem. One more thing, all the hall fire doors should be blocked open during the day because dragging three heavy suitcases through narrow heavy doors was not fun!!!!

Nice position. Main restaurant was being renovated. Food available in bar but that was very busy. Room needs improvements. All windows were screwed locked or could be opened by a very tiny bit. So we had to use the aircon instead of having the windows open. The towel rail heater could not be turned off. This was during the heatwave. So bathroom was like a sauna. Hotel staff helpful and friendly.

The staff made it a very welcoming experience. The hotel offered upgrades for us that we loved like transportation from the airport, three course dinner, romantic package of champagne flowers and chocolate covered strawberries, and breakfast buffet. Was a great place to stay for one night before our honeymoon cruise. Close to cruise terminal, we walked there.

Construction around the area was challenging. The restaurant bar at 11am said the ran out of regular coffee to brew. I believe it was the male bartenders attitude and desiring not to work on June 29, 2025 was the reason. Upside was it is conveniently located by cruise port.

Property is almost 200 years old but well-taken-care of. The view rooms are lovely. Splurge on the K bed suite! Only problem was cruise day…staff overwhelmed by people coming and going. Food was very good to excellent.
