The hotel has a perfect view it’s so beautiful. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left it was amazing the staff were so welcoming and kind. They will do anything to help you. The only weird thing was when my friend came I had to pay additional for him(maybe this is common in India) but other than that this place is perfect accomodation perfect staff and perfect location

I believe I overpaid for a mediocre property (more than 7k/day). Reception and dining were very poor. Not enough space in the property to wander around. Food was an utter disappointment, but it had some sky rocketed price like a 4 star resort. Based on what I ordered, I recommend you to change your Chef. Apartment was compact and clean. Staff behavior was cool & pleasant. Didn't use Ayurvedic facility, so comment on that. Reception neither had the courtesy to welcome customers nor had the space that allowed the customers to be seated properly.

Location is fairly poor, if you’re looking for food and activities outside the resort.

Our first three nights in India were spent here, a relaxing way to be introduced to this country.

Room poor, no shower head, hot water, air con, fridge, or cleaning over several days. £30 per night which is steep for India, even in the nicer places, and this was the basic room here. Offered upgrade, but only to mid range room for extra £20 p/n! Poor. Food in restaurant nice however, as were night reception and restaurant staff. Overall bit of a rip off given what is available elsewhere in India, probably because it's an "Ayurvedic Resort", so seems exclusive etc etc. It isn't, go elsewhere!

It's a nice place and close to the airport. We made the mistake to pay $20 more for dinner included, but never got $20 worth of food in the evening. When included, the menu is restricted. Would have been better to have the whole selection and pay less for a meal.

Manager very rude to me as there was confusion over my booking, luckily the rest of his staff are very helpful and efficient. I had a room in the old part by the restaurant, these rooms are beyond shabby, burgundy and green bathrooms, shower with no power and minimal hot water, exposed strobe lights to cover the fact these rooms have no natural lighting. I did get to use one of the new rooms near reception, these are much better with great views. I would recommend only staying here if you want Ayurvedic treatment otherwise go 7km further to kovalam

Beach and Auyervedic Resort is a retreat to relax in total peace and quiet. There is nothing else! If you are looking for bit of buzz, noise, restaurants and tourists shops then simply stay away from this place! It's is literally a dead end. It seems to be a place where most of clients- mainly women- come from far afield (mainly Europe) for some form of Ayurdevic treatment . The tranquility of the place suited us as we just wanted to lie by the pool, relax and read after a 6 day tour of north Kerala. The setting is brilliiant - restaurant and other of half of the hotel rooms are reached a 5 minute river crossing (24 hour service)- a dugout boat punted by a local person- unique experience and bit of throw back to bygone era. A word of warning: we booked a deluxe room but were given a small white prison like living quarters opposite the reception area overlooking the car park through barred window. After protest, the hotel management provided a proper size decent room which worked out well and we have to give full credit to the hotel management for responding favourably.

The stay was comfortable although staff did not pick up the phone at 10.45 p.m. to help in locating the hotel which is slightly off the main road and you have to access it through a narrow lane.

Very enjoyable 2 weeks in the Kerala sunshine. The Beach and Lake is a small hotel with many good features. There are less than 20 rooms of varying size and outlook. The rooms in the main block overlook an area of backwaters with views across to the sandy beach along the Arabian Sea. It is unwise to bathe in he sea because of the very strong rips which can drag swimmers out. There is a boat which crosses the backwater to the restaurant and other rooms. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is of a very good quality, authentic Indian cuisine. The hotel is about 7 kms from Kovalam, the main resort in the area, but can be reached by tuk tuk, taxi or bus. On the downside there are a series of settlements along the coast where conditions are appalling, with masses of litter piled up along the tracks between the basic homes that they live in. It would be unwise to venture too far into these area.

Overall quite satisfied. Hotel in good location with respect to airport and beaches. Staff, particlularly management, seemed not particularly competent. Communication issues were a problem between staff. Location is a bit isolated in terms of other restaurants meaning you were captive to the hotel restaurant which was adequate but overpriced. Strong septic smell from polluted lagoon was very off putting at times.
