We came in at around 12.30 on the passing looking for breakfast meals, unfortunately they had stopped serving breakfast at 11am so we agreed to leave the food and just have some lattes which were delicious, the waitress then asked if there was anything they could do for us and the chef went out of his way to make us both two full Monty breakfasts outwith their breakfast times as a one off, which was greatly appreciated. The service received was outstanding by all colleagues, food quality was amazing and we will definitely be back. Well presented, clean and high quality food. I would highly recommend.

I have been going to the Sun Inn for Decades!! Always a lovely treat , great ambience, lovely friendly helpful staff !! This has not changed ,however unfortunately I am so disappointed? I took my daughter for a lovely wee lunch treat as we had not been for so long !! We ordered cheese and ham toastie and steak frites! The steak was overcooked and the chips were definitely frozen skin on fries ? Pepper sauce was lovely ! Put my food in tin foil to take away to make room for dessert! Good enough but shop bought shortbread? I have never complained about a meal in my life and really did not want to do so now , however this lunch including 2 drinks ,one being a soft drink cost £85.80p !!! I was too " gob smacked " to say anything at the time and apologise as I should have ? There is a service charge of 10% and another additional tax charge of £13 ??? I only noticed the service charge was optional when I got home ?? I just felt I had to say to avoid other normal working class ,no " buck shee" money people to beware of these hidden taxes if they are deciding to " push the boat out " for a wee treat ??

Awful from start to finish. The Sun Inn may have been great in its hey day... but its dire now. They should be ashamed renting out their rooms in such a state. Saying its a luxury suite is just an absolute joke. Its falling to bits, dirty, tired, and a rip off. Food is not up to standard, over priced and underwhelming (I'd have needed a chainsaw to chew through the 'slow roasted' beef on the Sunday dinner). The facilities are in huge need of a revamp and upgrade. Staff training/education, a change of mindset/attitude or change of team is in need. Spent over £450 for one night to celebrate my birthday at this gastro/bistro/coaching inn. What an utter waste of money. Sun In you should be ashamed. Would avoid at all costs. Very disappointed and sad. Feel cheated.

I was very disappointed with my meal hear. The quality was below average. Forcexample, the chips on the fish and chips went from over cooked to hard. A side order of fries were soggy. The orange juice seemed watered down. The toilets were dirty. Outside furniture is disrepair. Etc etc etc. This was a really good restaurant the last time I visited, ten years ago. But it has obviously gone down hill. I would not return.

The mussels were great, as was the rest of the food. Great spot for some lunch a few drinks. Service was also really good.
