The hotel was clean and generally well kept. We enjoyed a nice stay, but a couple of things would have made things better: - On checking in, the receptionist was very functional. We would have appreciated a welcoming smile as well as being told the relevant information. - The menu needs to be updated to show what is actually served. However, nothing to stop us from returning.

Food was disappointing - higher end prices for poor/cheap quality food. Room was comfortable and clean. Pool area was nice, water was warm. Sauna was wayyyyy too hot though. Unbearably hot. No alternative milk options.

Room was clean and tidy. Staff were polite and pleasant though for our evening meal there were only 2 staff members who were very busy and could have done with an extra pair of hands I think as service was slow. The pool area was well maintained and had plenty of loungers. There was no water fountain though for a little drink after the sauna. Men’s locker room could do with a freshen up. The gym is dated and is mainly cardio and a few resistance machines, some free weights but not much space to use them, no barbell. Hotel is well placed for walks to clumber park and rufford abbey park for a day out.

Dated room, looking very tired and dirty. Only decent rooms are the ones newly refurbished (and even those are partly refurbished, the shower head, doors etc are old). Rooms are only superficially cleaned, if you open curtains or look at the tv cable or boardings they are covered in filth. Food at breakfast was burnt and the restaurant food was well below and decent pub average. Sauna did not work, only steam room did. Only decent thing is the pleasantly warm swimming pool but even this did need better cleaning, there were hair all the floor. Lastly, except one gentleman at the reception the other team members were not pleasant or polite.

Breakfast food was very nice although coffee was poor. Lots of flies in the spa bar area so had to take my drink to the lounge. Abundance of dust on the bedside cabinet shelf. Staff were helpful.

Very friendly staff, good gluten free breakfast. Room very outdated & tatty. Some things not in bathroom, ie glasses & soap.

This is my second stay at the muthu, my room this time was tired and old fashioned with bad marks on the carpet and a bath side which had def seen better days. There was a problem with the water during my stay and although my room wasnt affected , the pool area was, so there were no pool toilets or showers, so people were coming straight out of the sweaty sauna and straight into the pool. I called to the bar just for some crisps and was pretty much ignored by the girl serving snd left me standing there while she did something else behind the bar which was a bit rude, see to your customers first! I had afternoon tea which sadly wasnt fantastic, the sandwiches had obviously been made the day before and were dried up, wasnt even worth the groupon price. Having said all this, i just wanted to have a night away on my own and rested at the side of the pool. The hotel could do with some updates in certain areas but was ok for a one night stay.

Unfortunately found out the spa was closed after booking, but that apart had a great stay. Lovely refurbished room and nice breakfast.

Good facilities although out Räte

We were disappointed to discover that the spa facilities, pool, sauna etc were all closed during our stay, and it was too late to make alternative arrangements, as this had been out search criteria. The room was nice and the staff were all lovely, however the windows were painted shut and there was no way to turn the heating down. The room must have been 25c, far too hot to sleep. The wifi timed out every hour or so and the tv wasnt connected to the Internet. It was disappointing overall.

We had a refurbished room so was very nice. Disappointed spa was closed but hotel is being refurbished and should be completed by end of the year.

Room was spotless, staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant excellent, sevice a bit slow, food was great and plenty of if. Spa was clean. Just across the road is Clumber park plenty of walking.
