No AC No WIFI Rooms were far from spotless

Room was clean. Have to check in at neighboring hotel due to renovations

When I arrived, the office at Econo Lodge said "Open" but the doors were locked and no staff were present. The sign on the door instructed guests to go "Next" to check in. There was also a phone number to call if you had problems. After walking next door and finding it was not the right location, I called the number provided to find I needed to go to a Travel Lodge which was about a city block away. There I found out the office at the Econo Lodge was permanently closed, leaving no security at the facility. I also discovered I would need to walk or drive to the Travel Lodge for the included breakfast. The room was clean but the boiler heat had been shut off, leaving only the fireplace pilot light to warm the room. This proved insufficient as the temperature dropped outside, and I found myself trying to stay warm at night with the single thin blanket provided. As a result, I got very little sleep.

The office was not open so the front desk was not staffed and we had to go to the Quality Inn, down the street, to check in. Our television did not work and as there was no staff on site we could not get it to work. We also had to go to the Quality Inn for breakfast and to check out. We have stayed here many times in the past and were very upset that the office was not open.

Hot Breakfast was terrible. Parking was insufficient for travelling with a trailer.

The staff was extremely courteous. The room was very clean. The gas fireplace was very welcome on a -26C night.

*The general manager would not compensate us for our reservations due to unforeseen road closure from forest fire when all of the other hotels reservations we had to cancel did compensate us. All of our hotels were booked through a third party booking. Very poor customer relations at this Econo Lodge. Stay across the highway at the Best Western Plus-nicer hotel with cleaner rooms and a lovely breakfast for about the same price.
