I chose the Pay now option and it did not Pay, instead it held the booking on a 72 hr payment Schedule which never landed up paying the hotel at all and guest on arrival had to pay upfront for the night and I had to do a separate payment for the remainder of the stay Very annoying. really created complications. I dont have these issues with any other hotel. Staff are also not very friendly.

Wasn’t expecting the hotel to be in bad shape. Although, it got the job done for the one night I stayed there and customer service was great. We also ended up paying for a shuttle ride arranged with the hotel, which showed up perfectly on time. I would highly recommend Joseph. He was extremely kind, gave us some cool information about Cape Town, and was overall a great driver. A+ Joseph. Thank you and the hotel front desk for all the help!

I recommend Hotels.com remove this hotel as an option, it’s horrible. The place is difficult to find MapQuest & Uber can’t find it, after 5 rooms & prop phone filthy furniture in the 2 sweets & no hot water in the last room, I checked out early, the staff was the only thing that kept me there that long. Absolutely lovely staff trying to make the best of it. It’s clear the owner isn’t interested in fixing problems below the surface.

On booking, I specifically asked for a double bed and not separate beds. We were given a room with two separate single beds but within 30 minutes we were in a replacement room. Cleanliness - we found a ball of hair in the shower and a strand or two on the towels. Service - although our breakfast table was clean, there were no cups and missing some cutlery. Kitchen staff communication is terrible - I asked the staff for a fried on the skillet egg and she walked away without response but then someone else appeared to make the egg. I also asked a lady where do I get coffee, she also walked away to do something and then a gent came and helped us. Beds were uncomfortable, and the hotel seriously needs to upgrade the mattresses. The management also needs to maintain the one elevator / lift (there are 2) as it cannot be called from the 3rd floor. There was a lady who couldn't get out as the lift kept going up and down but for some reason not stopping on her floor. On the positive side the TV channel selection wasn't too bad although the channels in the first room and second were different - go figure!? Service at reception was good Also parking needs to be directly to the parking attendants outside. It was a night one stay and the price including breakfast is not too bad when you look at the location.

Hotel was just ok. Area left alot to be desired and there were lots of rats running around outside.When I raised this with the hotel they asked me if we did not have rats where we came from! Bar and resturants closed early so you had to leave the hotel to get a drink. On the up side hotel staff were very good and helpful and the hotel was very central

The Tulbagh exceeded my expectations and I thought it provided excellent value for money. My bedroom was more modern and far more spacious than i’d anticipated - the bathroom and shower were particularly generously sized, and everything was quite smart and immaculately clean. Nice toiletries provided, good towels, comfy bed, effective aircon/heating system, tea-making facilities. The only thing I could improve on would be the pillows, which were nevertheless perfectly adequate, if not luxurious! Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was extremely good, as previous reviewers have noted - a full buffet of fresh, tasty food covering most requirements.
