We had a good sleep and shower in a clean room after camping for 5 weeks. No problems there. When we checked in we expressed our concerned about security of our camper, paddle boards that were locked on the roof rack and truck. Front desk clerk assured us that parking was secure with hourly security rounds and surveillance cameras. When we got up in the morning we found our truck had been ransacked and thousands of dollars gear was taken.
Police were called and surveillance footage was reviewed. They concluded the parking lot was too dark and or cameras were not working. At any rate nothing could be seen. The day clerk was sympathetic but more interested in voicing her frustrations about the unhoused population and theft.
So seems the hotel was aware theft is a problem in the area.
We choose this hotel mainly by ratings, so yes clean enough was the only thing going for it. Note, ignore the lure of the free breakfast, not worth the insensitive. 😬perhaps Prestige should use that money to improve lighting and security.
I will also note that the Manager was quite rude and dismissive, nor did he offer any sort of an apology.
For security reasons we were told after the fact the Sandman is the place to stay in Quesnel! 😏
