This place was really good, the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was really good and the hotel is presented very nicely. They washed my clothes free of charge, loaned me a bicycle and allowed me to use a nearby pool if I'd wanted to. My only gripe is that the TV quality was really poor, but a minor thing if you're rarely in the room

I have been staying at Anise Hotel for about ten years. Each time I visit it gets better. The property is is well maintained and always seems fresh and new. The service levels throughout are great. The little details like five pieces of laundry done daily free of charge add to the service levels of this little jewel. Sitting on the wrap around veranda having a made to order breakfast or evening drinks are added benefits to the Anise.

Great nice hotel with great staff. Only issue is that there is no lift. The staff will be happy to carry your bags in and out, but can be a bit of a climb everytime you come in. But otherwise clean and comfortable in a convenient location with tuk-tuks always available.

The place makes you forget that you are in the middle of the city. Plenty of restaurants nearby and awesome breakfast. Plus points for the free laundry service. Nothing to complain about really. They still have those old box TV and DVD players but it was no bother. Its walking distance to the Independent Monument but in Phnom Penh I believe using Grab is the way to travel around the City. Cheers and thanks for the stay!

This hotel is wonderful. Staff are friendly and helpful, and speak good English. The rooms are very clean. The included breakfast is made-to-order after you select your preferred options (coffee was very good too). Lots of sights within walking distance, and tons of nearby restaurants. The arranged airport taxi was helpful as well, especially for a late night flight arrival. If I stayed longer than one night, I would have definitely taken them up on the free daily laundry service! My one complaint is that the bed was VERY firm, probably the hardest one I've ever slept on.

A beautiful, old style hotel, reminiscent of French colonial days, with large clean, airy rooms and delightful, helpful staff. Free set breakfast, value around $3.50 per person which includes coffe, tea, juice and a choice of items such as muesli or porridge with fresh fruit to bacon/eggs/tomatoes to noodles. Originally we'd planned to stay only 2 nights, but due to Chinese New Year we couldn't get our Vietnam visas, so ended up staying 9 nights. The hotel allows 5 items of free laundry per person per day, which was really useful, as was having an electric kettle in the room along with a fridge. Room 305 had been modernized with a good size shower with rain head.

We had such a great stay. What can I say, the staff were really friendly and helpful. My wife got sick from some food she ate (not at the hotel) and we needed to stay an extra night. They didn't have any rooms but was able to get us a room at a sister hotel at the same rate. They also helped with getting us to that hotel. Being out of our element, this really meant a lot to us. The rooms were great, the aircon, and wifi were also great.

Our room was on the top floor (4th floor) and there is no elevator. It was a little rough with luggage, which they gladly helped us with but it was so very worth it. There is a rooftop garden that we basically had to ourselves. The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The location was great...a lot of stores or restaurants close by and I was able to take a cooking class right next door! I would absolutely stay at this place again and recommend to those who are wanting a nice hotel at a great price...

We highly recommend this hotel: comfortable, clean, a good breakfast included in the tariff and it's in a convenient location near the Independence Monument. And the staff were outstanding: always welcoming and friendly. This was our first Cambodian hotel experience and we really enjoyed our 5 night stay.

The front desk staff was very helpful in ride arrangement. The hotel food was pretty good. We had oatmeal and fruit. Room was on top floor, a lot of stairs and noisy night sleep, but they were very kind to offer us a different room.

I spent some time choosing a hotel for what was my first trip to Phnom Penh and the Anise somehow "felt right". I was not disappointed. It turned out to be the perfect base for me as a business traveller, who also had a little time for sightseeing around the city. Although it nestles in the heart of quite a busy neighbourhood, the hotel offers the perfect enclave in which guests can chill out and relax after a hard day's work or sightseeing. If you need any assistance, the hotel staff will also help with sightseeing tours or advice - I would particularly recommend a sunset cruise! Other great features - a lovely terrace restaurant serving some great East Asian and Western dishes (loved my time out there with a glass of chilled Angkor beer each night!) and 5 free pieces of laundry per day. Also a fantastic choice of breakfasts to set you up for the day ahead. All in all, a great stay! I returned home with some special memories. If I return in the future to Phnom Penh then this will definitely be my first choice hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights. Loved the extra touches, like fresh flower arrangements throughout the hotel and free laundry service (5 pieces per person per day for free). Everything was great: services, cleanliness, breakfast, comfort. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is that the shower did not have good water pressure and the temperature would switch between burning hot to freezing cold even though you did not touch the handle (We were in room 403, maybe it just needs a bit of maintenance?). Other than that issue, all was great. We would stay here again.

There are not enough superlatives for this wonderful modest little hotel. The terrace is also delightful and the food and service excellent.

The hotel staff was excellent, the room very clean and just what was advertized. Breakfast was from a menu and delicious. While the hotel's own street (278) has some restaurants, bars and travel companies, the zone is in an upper-end part of Phnom Penh with too many US food franchises and Range Rovers. We thought it must be embassy row. This invasion felt disorienting and disheartening, but we could walk to the National Museum and streets with local food. The hotel's restaurant itself was also great.
