We stayed in back unit that overlooks drive way, a bit awkward when decorated like nan & pops place, to many knick knacks in staircase and in bedroom also craft stuff in lounge room unnecessary (in my opinion) In Saying that we were comfortable, Host Rex was friendly and dog Bo was a cutie.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and perfectly equipped with things like a smart tv, heated blanket, fan and everything you could need in the kitchen to cook. It was spotlessly clean and in a beautiful location for gorgeous sunsets over the sea. Rex and Julianne are the loveliest people I’ve ever stayed with and they made me feel totally at home from the moment I arrived until the moment I left, and nothing was too much trouble. They made it such a wonderful week for me and a magical experience in Devonport that I will never forget, I can’t thank them enough and I hope to be back. Thank you!

Julianne & Rex are such a welcoming couple and very accomodating and were happy to answer any of our questions and direct us to where to go based on our own expectations. We decided last minute not to do the drive back to Launceston (as this is where we are staying) and look for somewhere to stay the night in Devonport then head back the next day. We were a little nervous assuming that the only availability would be for places of very little desire. We were quite pleasantly surprised. The Garden Room has a beautiful view of the gardens. Upon walking in we felt the instantaneous warmth and love that has been put into making guests feel at home, away from home and the space was great. A++ for cleanliness, A++ for location and A++ all round. I could not fault Birchwood on the River at all. We will definitely come back to Tasmania and definitely come back to further explore Devonport and surrounds and most definitely stay at Birchwood. Thank you Rex and Julianne. Friendly host, Super clean modern buildings and decor that makes you feel very relaxed. Great Central location within walking distance to a couple of pubs. It's literally across the road from the waterfront. You can see the water from the balcony and watch ships go by. There is plenty of room in the apartments, and laundry facilities. The garden is beautiful and there is a very friendly dog there too. Parking is secure and off the street, reasonable price. All in all, we couldn't ask for more. Actually, a dishwasher would have been nice, but now I'm just being pedantic...

As soon as we entered our garden view room we instantly felt calm, pleased, surprised by the size and facilities. If you're looking for modern contemporary this is not for you. If you appreciate personal touches, that attention to detail and good service with exceptionally clean facilities in such a perfect location....then you must definitely stay here. Will definitely stay here again.
