What a nightmare of a place. It felt unclean upon entry to the property. There are filthy steps up to the property…good thing I don’t have a mobility problem…and the paving slab on most steps rocked dangerously. On entry the property felt immediately unclean. We could hear voices in the room ad noticed that there is an unlockable door from the bedroom into an office and we could hear an interview for a member of staff in process. We returned to the pub across the road and the same helpful person, Chloe, offered us a room exchange… we viewed the room at Ty Morgan’s. It was marginally worse. It was getting too late to change our plans so we said we’d stay. I couldn’t sleep because the mattress was so awful and dilapidated ..no mattress prothat I had to try and sleep on top of the duvet. There is some sort of emergency light that stays on all of the time…The bathroom has stained toilet with no proper flush handle and the pull light cord is just a dirty knotted cord. Holes and stains in the ceiling ….I could go on but I think that I have given the gist of the situation. Cleanliness and a decent mattress is a basic requirement in a place to stay. I wrongly thought that as Croeso GRWP own many hospitality businesses in Rhayader it would lead to professional approach. We specifically chose it for that reason. It did not. The photo of the front of the building shows two windows on the upper floor…left hand is the office which opens into the bedroom.

Value for money but very noisy. Clean bed and shower. Would benefit from a new mattress and carpet.

A nice little hotel, room was clean and tidy, although a little dated, could do with a bit of an upgrade on decoration and may replace the bed as it was quite lumpy in places. Overall OK for a one night stay.

Clean room, warm room, welcoming host, easy access to restaurant if needed, cheap good food. Perfect location no faults at all

Lovely little place. Small but more than adequate room for a base in mid wales. Hotel owns the cafe which do a fantastic breakfast starting at 8am.

A lovely pub to stay in clean room , great food in the pub downstairs

We needed a place to stop for just one night and the Crown Inn was functional and convenient. We had Room 2 in the courtyard annex. Straightforward and friendly check-in, a small and clean double room (ensuite, but no soap or shower gel, take your own!), comfortable and warm bed, tea/coffee making facilities and a TV. The only problem wasn't of the Crown's doing: it was the pub-pretending-to-be-a-nightclub opposite (it was Saturday night). The street noise itself wasn't too bad, but the thump of the music was two notches too high on the thumpometer. When you can feel the vibrations in the pub across the road, you have to wonder what the locals make of it each week. Perfectly quiet location when the nightclub finally closed. Only 3 stars as a result; wouldn't stay here again over a weekend, but other times probably a great option.

The room was cold, carpet is worn out, mold on the ceiling of bathroom. Right next to main road through the town, another 2 pubs opposite, so noisy at closing time, then noisy when people were leaving at 5:30 & 6:30 am

In need of decorating or a spruce up. There was mold on the walls and ceiling. Wouldn't take much to make it a really nice room to stay in.

Really lovely Inn full of character. Lovely staff and easy check in. Room was clean, comfortable and lots of character. Right in the middle of Rhayader so a nice walk in the evening. Would stay again and recommend 😃

The photos of the rooms look good but the rooms were very small and cramped with an overall “grubby” feel. The staff were really friendly but they were let down by the room.

On arrival at 8.30pm we were told that we could not get a meal as the kitchen was overworked with a large table. This despite the last food order time of 9.00pm. We were informed that if we had booked a table then they would have served us!! Not sure what difference a booked table would have made to an overworked kitchen. Also very noisy street until half past midnight. Otherwise facilities average for money.

Staff absolutely fantastic - room was hot due to radiator on all the time and though turned off, was still on. Opened a window that helped and there was a fan in the room so bearable. Had requested double but got a twin - wasn't that fussed so didn't bother asking if could change. Overall would recommend for sure - location great.
