We had a mixed experience. You are ‘welcomed” with signs about the keypad to get in, signs asking guests to “lose your shoes” and inspirational quotes such as “Arrive as strangers, leave as friends.” Unfortunately, this didn’t reflect our experience, as we didn’t meet the people running the property On the positive side, we were allowed an early check-in, which was much appreciated. There is also a large communal lounge and a well-equipped guest kitchen. However, our room was incredibly small - there wasn’t enough space to open our suitcase properly. It was also extremely hot. We knew before arriving there was no air conditioning and that fans were provided, but there were no power sockets to plug it in. And, the only socket we found for charging our phones was in the bathroom. The padded headboard was also covered in plastic, was rather odd. Before our stay, I emailed to ask if my sister and her son could have a twin room rather than a queen bed. Unfortunately, I never received a reply, and they were allocated a single queen bed. Had we known this in advance, we would have chosen alternative accommodation. There also didn’t seem to be anyone readily available to contact or discuss issues with. When we arrived & departed, the only people we saw were two young cleaners. One offered to help with our luggage, but only after we had already carried everything inside ourselves. And they ignored us as we left! Help with luggage although above & beyond would have been lovely.

Lovely inn with lots of charm and character. The room was clean, and the instructions regarding parking and checking in were easy to follow.

It was amazing that the building was right in front of the Castle. That made it easy to find and get out to all the main roads. We were able to walk down to the beach from there . The downtown area is within walking distance also. The breakfast was absolutely delicious for $10, well worth it. The only suggestion was to have fresh coffee out in the living area around 7am as my whole family were early risers. The staff were very helpful even when my husband had to call the night manager when we were separated and I had the key to the unit!! The street parking can be a bit difficult in the evening when also being used by the residents but just drive around the circle and you should find someplace for the night. We had a large truck so was harder to park anywhere in Victoria!!The entire building was wonderfully refurbished and decorated.

The Craigmyle is a beautiful property and we stayed in a lovely room. It was in a quiet location and we had a great night's sleep every night. Just a few small things would have made the stay even better. You can pay for breakfast as an extra which would have been convenient most days before we went out, however, on our first morning the breakfast took so long to arrive (over an hour) that we didn't bother again. It wasn't a complex offering so not sure what took so long. An alternative was to use the guest kitchen which we did, however there was no standard toaster, just a tabletop grill with a toaster setting which tripped out the first time we used it. Also it was great that you could access the laundry for clean towels and bedding, however there was only one iron and one ironing board with no cover on to borrow for ironing so they weren't always available. There was plenty of room to keep an iron and board in the room. No TV in rooms which is a bit unusual, whilst we don't watch alot of TV on holiday, it's nice to have the option. Overall we enjoyed our stay but a better breakfast service and a few more facilities would have made it exceptional.

I was not expecting such a beautiful old house. There was no TV in the bedroom or fridge or anything like that, but it honestly wasn't needed. This is an experience, not just an accommodation. I was only here for one night but I loved it so much and hope to return soon. Check in was little confusing as there is no front desk, but nothing I couldn't figure out.

Beautiful property, spotlessly clean and comfortable room.

Only having street parking is an issue as neighbours also rely on street. Building is well kept, really like the location and neighbourhood as well. Our charming room was the smallest and we saw larger would have been available at same price. Lots of stairs, not a problem if your knees are good!

The general sitting area with fireplace and cozy furniture, and kitchen was well equipped.

Terrific stay, would highly recommend. Staff were lovely to deal with, extremely friendly and helpful. Very clean and beautifully decorated.

Location was wonderful. The decor, the cleanliness everything was perfect. My only struggle was with parking. Having arrived late I had to park a block away because the street parking was full.

Unique place to stay.

The cleanest and most comfortable stay I've had in a while. Had the best sleep while staying here.

Well appointed interior, very clean. Welcoming seating room, sunny dining area, clean and functional kitchen to store food or cook if one was inclined. Our room was small but bed very comfortable, bathroom clean and redone so very nice. The street was a beautiful residential spot, parking limited but always worked out. Lots of stairs up to the property and within this delightful Victorian home. Staff was informative, friendly and gave us a nice little tour. Would definitely recommend.

It is a beautiful building. They definitely were not lying about the amount of stairs. The room was on the smaller side but that was to be expected with an older house. Each room had its own bathroom and the only complaints I would have would be the lack of hot water on our last morning. Most days you just had to run the water a bit to get hot water to the top floor but our last day was a cold shower.

Everything was great, other than the lack of power outlet in the bathroom.

We loved our stay here. The room was clean, cozy, and so cute. Next time we’re in Victoria we would love to stay here again!
