When checking in the door was not opened, even though I had pressed the bell. Until I had to tap the receptionist's windshield, then I opened it. There is no elevator. So bring a lot of things and be prepared to carry them yourself to the top floor via the stairs. Just 1x is enough. Luckily it was just transit.

Mostly for collage students and not for family. You really need to carry your luggage as they have 4 floors without elevator. Breakfast are free and only open at 8. Even though you can cook but too many people at the same time so its too crowded. Bathroom OK and good. Bedroom OK and good. They don't have the electricity on the upper bed so you need to take turn with uour roomate. Location OK. Saved by tram.

I'm saying that it's awesome for a backpackers place to stay, my belongings were safe there, even though I only got a small locker, a nice common area, they had pizza night specials. Best part is it's smack in the muddle of Melbourne, easy access to everywhere, you can walk, take the free tram, and it's only about 150meters from the Southern Cross station where you can take the Skybus to and from the airport.

Strategic location. Friendly receptionist. Cheapest price. A hostel for backpackers. Yet sometimes I found it's not too clean in some areas.

It was worth the price. I stayed in 16 bed female dorm room. I know 16 seems like A LOT of people in one room, but my roommates were very respectful, they're very quiet, even talked to each other in whisper, some of them were nice and tried to engage in conversation. The bed is awesome, new sheet, extra sheet, warm blanket (as it's full air-con and it can get quite chilly at night). So if you're a girl and gonna travel alone and want to get good sleep, you might want to choose female dorm room, yeah some of them make noise but it was tolerable - might still need earplugs because boys talked loudly in front of our dorm at that time. It wasn't my dorm mates fault. hot shower worked properly, didn't really have trouble with who gets to shower first as we all woke up at different time - bathroom isn't the cleanest (we girls got hairfall everyday, don't we?)but still acceptable - breakfast was awesome, especially the free pasta and free pancake, it was queueing a bit, but hey it's free. So no complain. Free tea, coffee all day long is awesome - location two thumbs up! If you're going to the city by skybus, this hostel is located just across the Southern Cross Station. Walk across the road from Spencer Centre (from main entrance to the left) and the hostel is just around the corner (it's closer rather than from the main Southern Cross Station entrance to get there). Near free tram area too. Totally easy access. about the red light district, I found no trouble staying in the area for 6 days. they have self-service laundry which I found cheaper than other laundre - no lift, so if you have huge luggage, beware. they have microwave, they have fridge, stove, you can cook your own meal. insufficient utensils but if you really need one, you can always ask the reception. helpful reception. near 711 and subway - easy access to Bourke Street Mall (no transit from free tram Southern Cross Station area) In short, I had a good time. I would come back when I could.
