I travel weekly to Apeldoorn for my work and I enjoy trying a different hotel every single week. Until yesterday.
Not sure what superlatives I need to use to express it was bad. Really bad.
I arrivered, beautiful on the outside and the location was great. Nice to have, a restaurant attached. Went in, checked in, asked for the bill and if I could have dinner.
If I had a reservation? No, well okay, we'll grant you permission to order the Chef's menu. Didn't fit my dietary needs, so yeah, I ordered in.
Well, maybe the bill? Nope, I could pick that up the next morning.
What time I wanted the breakfast, but preferably after 8. They advertise breakfast at 7:30. Luckily they made an exception for me.
To my room I went. I opened the door and was met with a mud stained carpet. Okay, maybe the coffee is okay. Nope, the machine produced a sputtering, tiny cup that advertised: "we really don't clean."
Okay, maybe work a little at the desk? Nope, no deal, no chair with the right height. Also the WiFi disconnected every 5 min.
Okay, I will just take a dump. Sitting down on the narrowest toilet space I've ever seen. Toilet paper above the bath tub.
The next day I had a great breakfast and asked for the bill. Well, front office wasn't on-site yet. Okay, I will receive it via mail? Great, awesome, bye.
Receive my bill and it seems like I donated 1 euro towards a good cause in Africa, on company behalf.
Long story short: I will get my euro back. I hope management soon realizes you don't have to offer everything, but what you offer should be in working order. I feel for the personnel whose professionalism and hospitality deserves a better workplace.
They didn't deny the room hasn't been cleaned.
