Lovely property and the spa village is a treat! And free from 7-9pm and 8-10am; pretty busy in the morning though

The hotel is beautiful. The service is delightful. The staff is great. Shout out to Chris the bartender. And it’s the only hotel in Bath with its own spa with waters from the local hot springs. I highly recommend it.

Very comfortable hotel. Really fantastic and friendly service. Couple of issues with my son's room which they dealt with immediately and moved him to another room. But the piece de resistance is the amazing Roman spa which guests can use in the morning and evening for 2 hours. Several different pools of different temperatures plus sauna and steam room. And of course a gym and treatment rooms available all day. Delicious family dinner in the restaurant - really excellent food. Would happily go back.

We loved everything about the Gainsborough, the staff were very helpful, the Spa was brilliant, the room was clean and today, also the maid was very polite and helpful. We were also upgraded to the Gainsborough suite as we mentioned it was our 25th anniversary so this was a plenty surprise, the hotel went above and beyond as they laid on a complementary fridge of drinks, a bottle of wine and a big box of Bath cheeses. Truly wonderful stay - thank you we come again.

Lovely rooms, spa was good altho some of the hot baths were out of use. Breakfast was very expensive, 25£ for continental and 40£ for a cooked breakfast. Also found out a day before that the main restaurant was closed in the evenings ( poor ) but found a better restaurant ( se7en up the road best steak ive ever had )

I booked a stay at The Gainsborough Bath Spa as a Christmas present for my partner, who had never been to Bath before. Wanting to make the gift extra special, I emailed ahead to request a complimentary upgrade. Having stayed here previously, I was delighted when the team kindly accommodated us—it set the tone for what turned out to be a truly memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Every single member of staff went out of their way to be helpful, creating an atmosphere of genuine hospitality that made us feel completely at ease. One of the highlights was receiving all-time access to the pool. This was such a treat, especially as The Gainsborough is the only hotel in the UK to offer natural thermal baths. Being able to enjoy them whenever we wished added a magical touch to our stay and made the experience feel truly unique. Overall, The Gainsborough Bath Spa exceeded all expectations. Thoughtful touches, outstanding service, and the rare luxury of natural thermal waters made this Christmas gift unforgettable. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a special getaway in Bath.

This is a wonderful hotel with great service, really comfortable rooms - and the fact that you can access the thermal baths is the icing on the cake! Just a few minutes from the station and the main shopping and tourist areas, the hotel is really well situated yet feels like an oasis of calm. The one minor downside was that the restaurant wasn't open on a Monday, but there were plenty of dinner options nearby. It is one of our favourite places to stay in Bath and we would highly recommend it.

Staff were not well trained. Some were very friendly & made an huge effort (concierge), others nice but just not well trained, but I heard one senior receptionist being rude to another guest. Hidden / badly advertised charges everywhere: parking (public car park management ch cheaper), spa use outside off-peak-hours, £5 ‘tray charge’ for room service. Room nice but incongruous failings: Phone in room so old almost unusable, key-holder in room falling off the wall. Bizarre that a hotel restaurant should not open for 2 days per week, including Sunday night (and Monday.) This is not a cheap hotel, so these shortcomings not acceptable.

Hotel was great. Rooms were clean and fresh. Location was good, right in the middle of what needs to be visited at Bath. The spa access for guests was of good timing and the hot pools were great and not crowded for the period. However the hotel is let down by the access road which was often tight and narrow and without space for loading and unloading of people and luggage.

The spa is so therapeutic it’s the only reason to stay here. It’s my 2nd stay here for the spa. The hotel is totally overrated its just ok it’s not good or great. Things don’t work it’s noisy but staff are nice and spa is the gift.
