The hotel is minutes away from the centre of Newark. The lobby is inviting, lovely bar area with pool table and spacious dining room. The guests' outside area is clean and a pleasant place to relax. The staff were lovely, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Our room, although not the biggest, had everything we needed including a fan which was welcome in the heatwave. Breakfast was plentiful and the guy overseeing it was extremely helpful and accommodating making sure everyone had what they wanted. The car park area and the almost derelict building beside the hotel is a bit off-putting but the hotel itself was fine. A wall light in our room didn't work, the wallpaper on the ceiling showed large patches of damp and the desk/dressing table glass top was cracked in several places. We didn't highlight these issues to the hotel as we were only there for one night. There was a bad drain smell throughout the hotel but I guess the hot weather made this more noticeable. Overall, it's a decent, friendly hotel and we will be using it again in the future.

Very handy for the town centre and plenty of parking on site. A good night's sleep and full English to start the day. All in all good value

The website said the hotel had recently been refurbished, however the decor was rather dated. Was unsure of the shower over the bath was just old or they had chosen a colour for the fittings that looked liked aged plastic. Although it was very clean and I had a good night's sleep. I found it very OFF putting to see a vermin trap outside our room, which made us decide not to eat at the hotel.

Staff here are where very helpful we booked a family room when arriving into our room there was only a double bed and one single for a family of 4 2 adults and 2 children. The staff were very quick to help and re arranged us a new room without hesitation. We had travelled a lot the day of staying. Decided to eat at the hotel was disappointed that there wasn’t a children menu for our children to pick from. Couldn’t fault the food was absolutely Devine for dinner and breakfast was lovely to all fresh even though we were a late comer to breakfast fresh breakfast was brought out right away. Overall happy with our stay. Rooms could do with updating and bathrooms to made not to leak water from the very powerful shower but for a quick one stop shop we couldn’t fault and would highly recommend. Thank you to the staff for being very helpful and friendly specially having two excited children.

This was not a great experience and represented poor value for money. The hotel seems to be a converted Masonic Lodge and has been subdivided into 'hotel rooms.' The welcome was friendly enough but the room was dingy and tired given the price. The TV did not work initially and it took the porter 10-15 mins to sort it out. The mattress was old and uncomfortable and I would have thrown the pillows out if they had been mine. Later, when I ventured into the bathroom, I found that one of the two lights flickered with a strobing effect which gave the impression of a scene from a horror movie. By leaving it on I was thankful that it eventually failed completely. During the night a number of guests came in late slamming doors culminating in some revellers arriving back clearly drunk as they proceeded to run up and down the stairs laughing whilst banging the doors. That was at 2 30am, so it was not a restful night. I could not wait to leave and would not dream of returning.

The place is really dated, needs redecorating and feels a bit 1970. Service was good and friendly. Everything worked (hot water etc) and towels clean. But the place needs investment overall and modern fittings

Had no problem checking in when I arrived late (c23:00) due to travel issues. Staff were approachable, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great.
