I know this is a dog friendly hotel, and I have had several really enjoyable stays here. However this time I was almost bitten by a dog that was viscous and the owner had no control over it. A very frightening experience. It was so aggressive it knocked over a table, spilled drinks and smashed glasses and a lamp on the table. Staff didn’t seem concerned and animal was still allowed to be in the area. I was travelling with my elderly mum and if it had attacked her she wouldn’t have been able to get out of the way. Equally it could have been a child. I understand dog against dog sometimes in these environments, but dog against human is a very different thing. I think management should have asked the people with this dog to leave the communal area. They had a second dog which came at me behind the aggressive one and it was adopting pack mentality. Both looked like a hunting breed. One staff member did come over to me and check if I was alright, however it was such a serious incident that the manager should have been informed immediately which they weren’t. I think Ravenstone Manor is all about getting people in with dogs because I guess this type of customer is abundant for them, however they have lost sight of what really matters. Very sad. I will not stay here again.
