Was in a great location for what we were doing.

The reception was lovely. We were in the west wing, the rooms were very tired and need doing up, though they were clean and thats important, the hotel is in the process of of a makeover in the west wing area but that just seemed to be the corridors, hopefully the rooms will follow. No fridge in the room which is a shame as the room was spacious and could've accommodated one. They need air con in the rooms as it was unbearable getting ready , you needed a shower again straight after getting dry as it was so hot even with a small portable fan. The breakfast was alright. Reception staff were lovely, very helpful. Location was great for the historic dockland area and a 10 min walk to Gunwarth Quays. Limited parking bays, so be aware of that. It's great if you're on a budget.

Room was nice and clean. My stay was during a heatwave so room was too hot (no a/c) however a fan was provided which was helpful. Breakfast was good. A few upgrades would have made it excellent (e.g. something besides "basic" bread and bottles of ketchup rather than just an open bowl of it on the side). Staff were very pleasant ad helpful. Nigh on 30 degrees outside and unfortunately the hotel doesn't have air conditioning. It was stifling. Hotel was very quiet and ideal for town centre and victory museum.

Very convenient location almost next to the Dockyard and the local restaurants. Room very spacious and comfortable

The biggest issue was : no Air Conditioning. Very hot room and corridors. Other issues were small, but added up: Kids playing in reception/compass/entrance, shower door wrong way around, shower not draining, bar staff not always available, one lift not working - little things that could easily improve with care and attention, which you would expect at a good hotel.

Room was good, staff was very helpful. Only issue was no A/C and we couldn’t get the room to cool down. We were there during a heat wave though.

Lovely hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Had to give a 3 star rating overall as the room was so hot it was almost unbearable. It wasn’t hot outside and we had the windows open and a fan on throughout the night. We were told this was a known issue and is high up as a priority to fix.

It’s an old historic building. There was no AC, but mercifully the weather was cool at night, so it turned to be no issue for us. Nice location.

It’s an older hotel with small rooms. Our windows didn’t open all the way and it was very hot. The staff was friendly.

Hotel location was ideal for attractions. Restaurant food good & service good

Hotel in great location for the Hard Interchange, ferries and Historic Dockyard. Room was newly refurbished but bathroom dated. All spotlessly clean. Hotel was mid renovation and to access room was walking through building site which wasn't ideal. Not all facilities were available during stay due to refurb.

An excellent stay. Yes work was taking place upgrading some of the hotel but it was still an excellent place to stay. Nice swimming pool too. Comfortable room.

Whilst it was clean and the staff were helpful, the hotel was very dated.

The West Wing where we were staying was beginning restoration. Shortly, but not too sweetly; for reasons I would be happy to list on request, I consider that Management would benefit in reputation from closing the wing till completion, rather than continuing to exploit its present tired mediocrity.

Lovely room and had a wonderful night in Portsmouth.

The Hotel was very pleasant, but only 4 stars because there was no Air condition in the bedrooms, and it was very warm..
