Overnight for sons graduation. Reception allowed us to leave car at hotel. Very much appreciated. We were given room upgrade unexpectedly but lovely.

Building itself was older and the routing to the room a bit complicated. Very clean rooms and very friendly personell. Had water stains on their bathroom ceiling. But no mold so just need a proper paint job.

Couldn’t get a drink at 11.10pm. Room basic snd a bit shabby. No air conditioning so the room was too hot. Opening the window made little difference and noise from seagulls on roof outside woke me up. Mattess was cheap snd uncomfortable. I am shocked that this hotel has a high rating. It’s really not s nice place at all. £50 a night would be the right price…not £150. Definitely avoid

Sunday dinner was a disappointment, advertised thick rare beef. But it was cut wafer thin and well done. Had the free ice cream and told we couldn’t have the forces discount as we had ice cream. No one told us. Went down for breakfast with 30 mins to spare. Cheap bread, poor coffee and a big lack of pastries. Some staff were pleasant but a couple of receptionists were so miserable. It was a hotel full of character but overall it was disappointing. Rooms were so hot as no air con and cheap thin small towels.

Great location for the Dockyards, Gunwharf Quays, and Spinnaker Tower. Reasonable walk (1mile) to Old Portsmouth and the remaining Bastion. A couple of pubs close by and the hotel bar is very pleasant.

Good price, easy check in, parking, friendly staff, v good breakfast. Good convenient location. Room was dated and too warm. A fan in the room would help. Hotel is in a residential area so a little noisy advise to take ear plugs.

Property was basic and ok for the price. Room was clean but aged. Parking appeared ok until I left to find someone low life had decided to key my car. Don’t think I would park outside the hotel again. Very convenient for Gun Wharf quay. and station.

Easy check in and we managed to get a space parked outside. Room was a good size with a comfy bed, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and a good size bathroom, with a few toiletries. Breakfast had plenty of food to choose from and they provided vege sausage and boiled eggs when we asked for them. Pool was a bonus. It was small and very warm, but nice to relax in. Collect and sign for towels and key to the pool at reception. Jacuzzi wasnt working. Less than 10 mins walk to Gunwharf Quay and the historic dockyard, 5 mins walk to the train station, and about 15 mins walk to the centre of town.

If you've ever served in the forces you'll think you've walked back into one of the messes. Its full of as you'd expect Naval touches and great because of it. It has loads of quirks to it from a peaceful reading room library to a small pool what's not to like. Hey its a bit dated but personally that was part of the charm. As for location, couldn't be much better for the historic dockyard/gunwharf quays/train station/ferry. I will be staying there again.
