Great hotel name in an interesting town, being dominated by the National Trust property in walking distance. Upmarket prices for food, but room rate very competative.

We had the twin room with the bathroom across the corridor. Due to this dressing gowns were provided which were large and cosy. Very large room with space for 2 chairs and coffee table. Breakfast for £5 was amazing! Good ale.

fresh clean rooms, and comfortable beds. Lovely big bar with a huge real fireplace, very inviting. Good pub grub. Excellent breakfast, quality of fare, far better than expected. This will be my first choice to stay when I'm in that area again.

Spent one night on route to a nearby funeral, handy location, comfortable bed, ensuite room, excellent breakfast and very helpful host. Would hope to stay longer on another occasion.

A terrible experience. I had no option but to rearrange my stay due to the Queens funeral. I phoned to try to come to an amicable/ shared arrangement on payment and a rebooking. The wife of the owner was rude and patronising and refused to make any concession at all insisting on charging me full prices despite the circumstances. I am all for supporting local and small businesses but for some reason this owner is too arrogant to think they need to rely on repeat business or I wouldn’t have been spoken to in the way I was. I wish them every success but I will never stay here again.

Good for one night stay. I was concerned that being above the pub might be noisy on a Friday night, but it was not. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. A little inconvenient having the bathroom across the hall, but for a one night stay it wasn't bad. The owners graciously accommodated my slightly earlier breakfast. During the day I parked in the lot across the road, but when I came back in the evening I ended up parking down the road outside the post office.

Very comfortable stay courtesy of hosts Charles and Ann. We enjoyed excellent meals, dinner, breakfast and lunch. On a practical note, the hotel's name, "Phelips Arms", hints at its proximity to National Trust's superb Montacute House i.e. 3 mins walk away. Meanwhile Montacute village itself is a gem to visit. For non car people like us, the bus from Yeovil helpfully stops outside.

My single room was fine except for the “ Single” bed. As 19 St. male I need a bit moreroom silly to put such a small bed in a room for rental , plenty of room for a 3’-6”/ 4’. The rest fine .

We had booked as we were attending. Concert near by. We had not expected to chance upon such a lovely little hotel in such a charming ng location. Moreover, the welcome was very warm and the service could not have been more attentive. The food in the pub was excellent and the system of breakfast being delivered to your room at a time of your choosing worked well. We will be back.

Lovely old pub in quaint village. Stayed here whilst attending a concert in nearby Yeovil. Loved the way the continental breakfast was delivered in a little picnic basket and left outside our room. As much as I love a full on English, you don't always want one every time so this was a nice change. I would definitely stay here again and have a few drinks in the bar downstairs!

Our main problem was the room, The chest of draws which the tv stood on the draws had no runners, the tv was next to useless, would not hold signal, picture kept braking up. The frame work around the bed keep falling apart. The shower failed to start and when it did the pressure was so weak it wasent worth having and the trims around shower doors kept falling off. and having their continental breakfast in your room was not good, for starters it was not true continental and it was messy. I can not speak for the rest of the rooms but our room No1 I would not recommend.
