When I booked the hotel through Expedia, I selected the “pay on arrival” option. However, the hotel charged me for the first night, the day before my arrival. I attempted to contact the front desk multiple times—over five calls—and was hung up on at least four times before someone finally answered. When I asked why my calls were not being answered and why I had been disconnected, the response I received was dismissive and unprofessional. On the day of my checkout, I also questioned why I received an email instructing me to go to the front desk to settle my bill, even though I had already paid upon check-in and provided a $150 deposit, which had not been disclosed at the time of booking. I was told that I did not owe anything and that the message is automatically sent to all guests. This explanation was confusing and unnecessary. Overall, I found the level of customer service extremely poor. The room was acceptable overall, but somewhat dusty—particularly around the TV. I also noticed in the bathroom a buildup of calcium on the showerhead, which was unpleasant. When I arrived on May 1st at around 11:30 p.m., I noticed a police car and an ambulance on-site. The following day, there was another police presence, and on the night of May 2 to May 3, I observed three police cars. This repeated activity raised concerns and led me to question why emergency services were being called to this location so frequently. Great service and food from the hotel restaurant.

The staff in this hotel were great. We enjoyed the room upgrade option as well. As far as the room is concerned, it was extremely clean, and fresh linen was provided. It does get warm at night so a fan and decor would be nice. The restaurant in the hotel makes the best coffee and their breakfasts look very good with large portions. The staff do their very best to speak English also. All in all, it is a positive experience

La douche extrêmement bruyante et peu de pression, on ne doit pas tirer la chasse d’eau de la toilette 5 minutes avant une douche. Eau chaude très longue à avoir dans la douche.

The room smelled like a smoker lived in it. It was nauseating. The bathroom door would not close or lock. We could not draw the darkening shades due to the ac unit and the curtain configuration. The beds were good. No cleaning service… stayed 2 nights and no fresh towels or beds made. I would say this is the worst place I stayed in and I have stayed in low star places. The worst part was the smoker smell. Never will stay there again.

We were disappointed in our stay at Newstar. The shower didn't work properly (either scalding or freezing water) and the drain stoppers were missing on both the tub and the sink. The mini-fridge in the room was barely cool (slightly below room temperature) and the room floor needed repair. The bed was comfortable (good mattress and plenty of pillows) and there was adequate parking. There was no closet, only 4 hooks and 3 drawers. There was an iron, but no ironing board. There were bath towels and wash cloths, but no hand towels. The walls were thin and loud neighbors woke me up in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, the hotel bar wouldn't let us charge to the room and didn't take credit cards, cash only. The location is good, right off of the highway, with restaurants within walking distance. The room and overall property were clean and the staff was pleasant.

When you enter the hotel the appearance was horrible, old dirty floor carpets, smokers outside and the smell got all the way to the inside of the room and the hallways. Staff was not too polite, I guess it's cultural.
