We had a great 3 day stay at this nicely updated hotel just north about 2 miles of downtown Chamonix. This hotel has free parking, a great restaurant, beautifully updated rooms and fabulous views of the mountains and glaciers. I highly recommend it. There is a bus line to get you into downtown Chamonix and drive it yourself if you have a car.

Stayed in room X which is on the top floor with a skylight and Mountain View from the balcony. Eight minute drive from downtown Chamonix but also the hotel is in a beautiful area (near a golf course) to walk. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Restaurant in the hotel is convenient with outdoor seating. Loved every minute.

Beautiful rooms and stunning views to the mountain. The restaurant was really good. The only issue is getting a park as it is in a public car park during the peak time of the day

The entrance to hotel.section is through the restaurant below. The waitress check us in. Even though strange we didn't mind since we had food overall experience. The room and bathroom are nicely decorated. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom had shower and standalone tub. Whole ambiance is luxurious. You can have a coffee against the Mont Blanc view on the little balcony. Only issue we had that was not related to the hotel. We came across a man that verbally abusive (in French) that scared us during our walk from Chamonix near Les Pras. I think he had some kind of mental health problem.

The day we arrived, front office and bar/restaurant staff were there. People were sitting on the deck having drinks, there was music playing, and it was a beautiful atmosphere. After that day, we did not see any staff again. The restaurant, bar, and front desk were completely abandoned for the next 3 days. We were not informed of the access code when the hotel was locked - we stood outside in the rain for several hours, calling the hotel, calling the emergency number - nobody ever answered. While the property was beautiful, our room was perfect, and the location was unbeatable, the lack of staff and customer service completely ruined it. The hotel advertises English speaking staff - WRONG. They advertise front desk is open 8am - 10pm - WRONG. They advertise their restaurant and bar are open 8am - 10pm - WRONG. We finally happened to run into the owner of the hotel - he was not concerned about our experience. He simply said it's the slow season.

Hotel was very accommodating to us. Rooms and common areas are all uniquely decorated. Located on north end of Chamonix by the Flegere-Les Peres gondola, not in town itself. Across from golf course. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I had stayed at this property before and it was lovely. Well kept, clean, fantastic restaurant with a different specialty menu for every night. This time it was worn down, simple amenities such as towels were missing, restaurant quite poor and service overall although staff trying very hard, not sufficient.

Our experience at Hotel Castel was deeply unsatisfactory. Staff were unhelpful, including a manager who refused to provide a hairdryer, leaving my partner with wet hair before a date. Another staff member eventually borrowed one from another guest—an unacceptable situation. Communication was lacking. We weren’t informed the hotel would lock at night and require a code, causing late-night confusion. The room’s housekeeping was inconsistent; towels weren’t replaced, glasses were left dirty, and water leaked onto the balcony floor daily, creating a hazard. The bathroom privacy was shocking. A window allowed anyone on the opposite balcony to see in, with no curtain or frosted glass to ensure privacy—an unacceptable invasion of privacy for a 4-star hotel. Breakfast was also a major letdown. We weren’t told it was chargeable, and on three out of six days, it wasn’t even available. When it was, options were extremely limited, with scarce gluten-free choices and inadequate amenities like a single coffee cup for all guests. Late check-out was inflexible, and the only storage offered for belongings was an unsecured boot room. Speaking with other guests confirmed a decline in the hotel’s standards compared to previous years. Overall, this was the worst experience we’ve had at a 4-star hotel. We hope management takes steps to address these significant issues.

Overall our stay was wonderful! It’s a two minute walk to the Le Paz gondola, has bus stops right out front, and you can view the mountains from your room. The staff were also very nice. I would skip on the breakfast as it’s pretty light and does not include much hot food for 18 euro a day per person. The only reason for four stars is that the rooms could have been cleaner and in better condition. A little dirty under seat cushions and on floor and it seems as though the balcony windows were not sealed properly as condensation water trails dripped in every morning. Also some of the plug covers would come off and the shower door did not prevent all the water from slipping outside. That’s said overall it’s a great hotel in a great location with nice staff.

Overall was all good. We had an inconvenient request to switch our room after one day because there was a longer stay that the hotel wanted to accommodated into our room. The hotel insisted but I refused to switch the room since I paid for that room category and I was checking out the day after. Also the day after , while we were loading the car , we have been chained from the hotel person to the parking area because they thought we were leaving without paying the dog fees and the breakfast. Consider that our wallet and Passport and one more luggage was still in the room. There was no one at the reception when we were loading the car. We did not feel welcome at all I. This hotel! That s why our overall review is low!
